摘要:
Abstract The author has reported the possibility to use venation for identification of tortricids. In the previous paper (Liu 1996), an expert system for identification using venation was also described. The present paper introduces the technique how to construct the expert system. Three original solutions in the research are published. They are: establishment of corrdinates of venation—“two‐centre method”, the interface to accept inputs—“model modification method” and the interface to generate outputs—

摘要:
Abstract The oviposition patterns of 6 larch cone flies,Strobilomyiaspp., were surveyed in 1993 in Da Hinggan Mountains, northeastern China. The colonization of distinct phases of cone development and the selection of different sites to lay eggs allowed to distinguish 5 patterns of oviposition. Observations of the egg morphology and of the chorion architecture using scanning electron microscope lead to classify the examined cone fly eggs into 6 different types. Each type of egg was related to a given oviposition pattern. Among the 6 egg types, eggs ofS. laricicola, S. melaniolaandS. infrequens wereidentified with certainty. Although hypotheses were given, further experiments under controlled conditions are required to identify which of the 3 other egg types is associated to S.baicalensis, S. svenssoniandS. sanyangi, respectivel

摘要:
Abstract The control efficacy of a predatory copepod,Mesocyclops leukarti, collected in Jining, and its compatibility withBacillus sphaericus (B.s.) andB. thuringiensisvar.csraefensisH‐14 (B. t. i.) against mosquito larvae were evaluated in the laboratory and in the field. In the laboratory,M. leukartishowed higher predatory activity toward first instar larvae ofAedes albopictusthan toward that ofAnopheles sinensisandCulex pipiens pallens.Cage simulation test showed that larvae ofCx. pipiens pallens, An. sinensisandAe. albopictuscould be eliminated within 9, 10 and 7 weeks after interaction with the copepods respectively.M. leukartipopulation can grow quickly, and its mass production is easy and economic. However, pilot field trials indicated thatM. leukartialone could not eradicate mosquito larvae of the three species rapidly and completely as by chemical insecticides, although they could persist in mosquito breeding habitats longer than the mosquito season. WhenMesocyclopswas used in combination withB. s.andB. t. i., higher and sustainable control effects were achieved. So this combination, which achieved the rapid larvicidal and sustainable control effect, was presumed to be practical and could be integrated into mosquito control prog
