摘要:
Thin films of Y1Ba2Cu3O7−x(YBCO) with and without underlayers of SrTiO3(STO) were deposited via pulsed laser deposition onto substrates of sapphire and silicon‐on‐sapphire (SOS) in a single vacuum step. The YBCO films with STO underlayers displayed better superconducting transitions than the YBCO films without underlayers, with zero‐resistance temperatures of 86.5 and 75 K for films with underlayers on sapphire and SOS substrates, respectively. X‐ray diffraction and secondary‐ion mass spectroscopy have been used to explore the role played by the STO underlayer in improving film quality.

摘要:
Growth conditions and solubility relations were investigated for controlled crystallization of YBa2Cu3O7−xand Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+xfilms from KCl solutions. Applications were made to film growth by liquid phase epitaxy using the dipping process. Epipolished substrates of LaGaO3with (001) orientations were employed. The micrometer thick films were identified by x ray to be of the correct phases. Furthermore, the polycrystalline films showed a highly preferred orientation with (001) of the films parallel to (001) of LaGaO3. The Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8film composition was superconducting as‐grown with a zero resistanceTcof 78 K and a &Dgr;Tcof 7 K, while the YBa2Cu3O7−xfilms required an oxidation for optimum properties.
