AbstractA derivative of p‐nitrophenol carrying in o‐position to the phenolic OH the groupment: CH2N(CH2COOH)2changes its light absorption when metal cations are added. The stability constants of the complexes formed hereby have been determined and their absorption spectra have been measured. Increasing shift of the absorption band has been observed in the series: Ba+2, H+, Mg+2, Zn+2, which is due to increasing “electron sharing ability” of the cations. The proton of this series is held primarily by the iminodiacetat group and forms a hydrogen bridge between the nitrogen atom and the oxygen of the phenolic OH. AbstractZur Aufarbeitung des komplex zusammengesetzten Calebassencurare haben wir ein neues Verfahren entwickelt, das in der Verteilungschromatographie der Alkaloidchloride an Cellulosepulver besteht. Die neue Methode erwies sich als viel wirksamer als die Chromatographie der Alkaloid‐Reineckate an Aluminiumoxyd. Es gelang damit, neben den schon früher isolierten Alkaloiden eine grössere Zahl neuer quartärer Basen in kristallisiertem Zustand abzutrennen, so dass die Zahl der in Zürich aus Calebassen isolierten Alkaloide auf 21 stieg.
