摘要:
Preliminary results from an analysis of 102 GeV/c proton‐proton collisions using the NAL 30 inch bubble chamber are discussed. Single particle inclusive spectra for the reactions pp ⇒ p + … and pp ⇒ &pgr;± + … are presented, and comparisons are made with corresponding data from other high energy experiments carried out both using NAL and lower energy accelerators.

摘要:
Preliminary results are presented on 205 GeV/c pp interactions in the 30‐inch hydrogen bubble chamber. The single particle inclusive distributions are compared to other NAL data, ISR data, and data from lower energies. Data on charged particle correlations and the preliminary results of a study of the diffractive process are also discussed.

摘要:
In an exposure of the 30 inch hydrogen bubble chamber to a 303 GeV/c proton beam, we have measured both V° events and all tracks with momentum less than 1.4 GeV/c. From these measurements the properties and cross sections of the inclusive pp ⇒ &ggr;X, K°sX and &Lgr;°X reactions are studied. In addition, single particle invariant cross sections for pions and protons are presented and the scaling behavior of these reactions is discussed.

摘要:
Preliminary results give an average multiplicity of 8.0±.17 and a total cross section of 24.0±.5. We find that approximately 20% of the 4‐prong events fit the hypothesis &pgr;−p⇒p&pgr;−&pgr;+&pgr;− and that essentially all of these are either beam diffraction into &pgr;−&pgr;+&pgr;− or target diffraction into p&pgr;+&pgr;−.

摘要:
We present results on 761 photon conversions into external pairs and 166 neutral strange particles decays at 69 GeV/c. The cross sections of the inclusive reactionspp ⇒ &ggr;X, K°X, &Lgr;X, are respectively 162.2±8.0. 8.4±1.1 and 3.6±0.5 mb. The average number of &pgr;° per inelastic pp collisions is found to be 2.5T±0.13; this number increases with the number n of charged particles up to at leastn = 10. Data are presented in terms of the invariant cross sectionsF(x,p⊥,s)scaling is approximately valid for &ggr;, K° and &lgr; production while our data on photons are incompatible with a simple factorization of the invariant cross sectionF(x,p⊥,s) = f(x)×g(p⊥).

摘要:
We have measured the doubly differential cross section sd2&sgr;/dtdM2for the reaction p + p ⇒ p + X using 200 GeV incident protons in the external beam at NAL. The ranges covered in ∣t∣ and M2are0.019 < ∣t∣ < 0.19 GeV2and1 < M2 < 60 GeV2respectively. The hydrogen cross section was obtained by a polyethylene‐carbon subtraction and is given with appropriately large statistical uncertainties. However, the cross section does show unexpected structure. In the region7 < M2 < 19 GeV2the cross section reaches a maximum near∣t∣ ∼ 0.1 GeV2and then decreases for smaller ∣t∣.

摘要:
We have measured the single photon inclusive cross section, d&sgr;&ggr;/dkd&OHgr;, for the reactionp + (pn) ⇒ &ggr; + anything, which can be related to the inclusive &pgr;ocross section. The results indicate that the invariant &pgr;ocross section falls exponentially for transverse momenta pTless than about 1 GeV/c. At larger transverse momenta the cross section falls more slowly. Preliminary results on the energy dependence at fixed transverse momentum are given.

摘要:
Data on 314 nuclear collisions of 200‐GeV protons in emulsion have been collected by following along 103 m of beam track. Those collisions which show no associated nuclear evaporation are found to comprise 21 ± 3% of the total, and the rise in occurrence of such ‘white’ stars with increasing incident energy is discussed. The significance of white stars with odd multiplicity is examined, together with crude results on the odd/even ratio. Six observations interpreted as direct electron pair production by beam protons are described. The cross section measurement, 7.4±3.0 mb, is found to be much smaller than the ∼100 mb calculated for 200‐GeV proton tridents in emulsion, from quantum electrodynamics.

摘要:
Nuclear track emulsions loaded with tungsten granules were exposed to 200 Gev protons at the National Accelerator Laboratory. Proton‐tungsten nuclear interactions were located by area scanning and angular measurements were conducted on the shower particles. The average multiplicity 〈ns〉, was found to be 16.8±1.5. The angular distribution was compared to that for proton‐proton interactions and was found to be nearly the same for small angles, but considerably enhanced for large angles. Comparisons were made with intranuclear cascade models.
