摘要:
The viscosity of the binary fluid can be changed drastically by imposing an external electric field. We investigate the relation between the structure of domains and the change of viscosity by performing simulations of the system composed of two kinds of fluids inserted between two plates of electrodes. It is found that the stress is significantly increased under applied electric fields as compared with the one of system under no external field. The initially dispersed domains are strongly deformed and bridge between two electrodes under electric fields. Under shear flows we also find that the elongated domains are broken up at slip regions. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
We have formulated the dynamics and the simulation scheme for large deformation of gels using the Stress-Diffusion Coupled Model. Using this model, we have simulated the shrinking process of 2D slab gels undergoing spinodal decomposition, in comparison with the collective diffusion model of gel networks. We reproduced the “plateau period” due to the surface skin formation, and the pattern formations in the inner region of gels by the Stress-Diffusion Coupled Model. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
The stochastic limit for the system of spins interacting with a boson field is investigated. In the finite volume an application of the stochastic golden rule shows that in the limit the dynamics of a quantum system is described by a quantum white noise equation that after taking of normal order is equivalent to quantum stochastic differential equation (QSDE). For the quantum Langevin equation the dynamics is well defined and is a quantum flow on the infinite lattice system. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
Quantum information theory is closely related to quantum measurement theory because one must perform measurement to obtain information on a quantum system. Among many possible limits of quantum measurement, the simplest ones were derived directly from the uncertainty principles. However, such simple limits are not the only limits. I here suggest a new limit which comes from the forms and the strengths of the elementary interactions. Namely, there are only four types of elementary interactions in nature; their forms are determined by the gauge invariance (and symmetry breaking), and their coupling constants (in the low-energy regime) have definite values. I point out that this leads to a new fundamental limit of quantum measurements. Furthermore, this fundamental limit imposes the fundamental limits of getting information on, preparing, and controlling quantum systems. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
One-dimensional asymmetric simple exclusion process with open boundarys is considered. This is a kind of lattice gas model. Particles enter the system at left edge, diffuse asymmetrically in the bulk and leave out of the system at right edge. They are also subject to the hard-core exclusion interaction. It has been known that the steady state properties of the model depends crutially on the boundary conditions. This boundary induced phase transition is explained from the point of view of the orthogonal polynomials. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
We first study here a simple stochastic dynamical equation with delayed self-feedback. The model is investigated numerically and we find that its dynamics show an emergent regular “spiking” behavior, by “tuning” its “noise” and “delay”. In order to gain insight into this “resonance”, we abstract the model and study a stochastic binary element whose transition probability depends on its state at a fixed interval in the past. With this abstracted model we can analytically capture the time interval histograms between spikes, and discover how the resonance between noise and delay arises. The resonance is also observed when such stochastic binary elements are coupled through delayed interaction. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
The resonance two-photon interaction of the broadband squeezed vacuum with the dipole-forbidden two-level atoms via nonresonant virtual levels is investigated. It is demonstrated that the broadband squeezed vacuum excites coherently the system of radiators (atoms, molecules) that have dipole-forbidden transitions. The quantum statistics of the generated photon pairs in the process of resonance fluorescence is analyzed. As the broadband squeezed field is amplitude-squared squeezed the interaction of this field with the dipole-forbidden atoms can contribute in further amplitude-squared squeezing. In the high-field limit this squeezing increases when the atom number also increases. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.
