摘要:
We propose a new modeling of convective motions in powder which Faraday has observed in 1831 for the first time. In this model, powder is treated as a set of elastic particles with viscostic interaction. In the two dimensional modeling, convective motions are induced by the instability. This instability turns out to be caused by elasticity.

摘要:
Growth features of the aggregates including surface diffusion processes are studied by the Monte Carlo simulations on two‐dimensional square lattice. Anisotropy of dendritic pattern changes from 〈10〉 direction to 〈11〉 one depending on the surface diffusion mechanism. Homogenous diffusion‐limited aggregation (DLA) grows in the crossover domain between two anisotropies. Results indicate that the random tip‐splitting mechanism of the hottest tips is necessary to hold the homogeneity and self‐similarity of DLA pattern.

A molecular dynamics study has been carried out of calcium chloride crystal and melt. We have empirically determined the potential parameters for Ca2+and Cl−by performing MD runs of capCl2crystal at room temperature. The computer‐generated structure of molten CaCl2seemed to be realistic in comparison with our X‐ray diffraction data.

摘要:
In convective systems the first emerging patterns are often straight convection rolls. Bringing the wavelength of these rolls into competition with the wavelength of a spatial modulation of the external stress, one can investigate in convective systems also commensurate/incommensurate transitions. We here report that by a spatially modulated external stress also new patterns like undulated convection rolls or skew‐varicose type patterns can be forced.

Domain growth in a system with quenched random impurities for the conserved scalar order parameter is investigated using a cell‐dynamics method. We find that the growth rate of domains are reduced due to the pinning by impurities.

摘要:
Clustering motion of particles is found in Hamiltonian dynamics of symplectic coupled map systems. Particles assemble and move with strong correlation. The motion is chaotic but is distinguishable from random chaotic motion. Lyapunov analysis distinguishes global instability and local fluctuations. Cluster motions have finite lifetime. It has a fractal geometric structure in the phase space, and trapped to ruins of KAM and islands.

摘要:
The structural relaxation process has been examined by a Monte Carlo simulation for a two‐dimensional XY clock model that has two transition points, a Kosterlitz‐Thouless transition atTKTand a long range order transtiion atTC(TC<TKT). The system was quenched from the middle temperature phase betweenTCandTKTto low temperature phase belowTC. The structure relaxation rate at low temperature phase is slower for the initial middle temperature state that has been created directly from the high temperature phase aboveTKTthan that created from the low temperature phase belowTC, both middle temperature phases being kept for the time insufficient for equilibration.
