In this note we summarize the exact solution of the doubly compactified Schwinger model (CSM), defined by the condition that the domain of the electromagnetic degree of freedomc=1/L∫0LdxA1is−c¯<c<+c¯.The results are contrasted with the standard situation, where−∞<c<+∞,which we call the non-compact case (NCSM). Both theories are also compactified in a circle of lengthLfor the space variablex. ©1999 American Institute of Physics.

We analyze the sensitivity to the vector-meson magnetic dipole moment of radiative processes involving the production and decay of vector mesons. These studies assume that vector mesons are stable particles. We then discuss how to incorporate the finite-width effects in the calculations without spoiling the electromagnetic gauge invariance of the scattering amplitudes. ©1999 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
We study the contribution of charged Higgs boson to the rare decay of the quark topt→bWZin models with extended Higgs sector that include doblets and triplets. Higgs doublets are needed to couple charged Higgs with quarks, whereas the Higgs triplet component is used to obtaing a vertexH+W−Z.It is found that this decay mode has a large branching ratio that may allow to test the custodialSU(2)csymmetry. ©1999 American Institute of Physics.

We derive a bound on the magnetic dipole moment of the top quark in the context of the effective Lagrangian approach by using the ratiosRb=&Ggr;b/&Ggr;h,Rl=&Ggr;h/&Ggr;land theZwidth. We take into account the vertex and oblique corrections. We obtain the allowed region for the magnetic dipole moment of top quark as−2.94⩽&dgr;&kgr;⩽1.9.©1999 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
Starting from the effective action of the low energy limit of superstrings theory, I find an exact solution of the field equations which geodesics behavie exactly as the trajectories of stars arround of a spiral galaxy. Here dark matter is of dilatonic origin. It is remarkable that the energy density of this space-time is the same as the used by astronomers to model galaxy stability. Some remarks about a universe dominated by dilatons are pointed out. ©1999 American Institute of Physics.

Once completed, thePierre Auger Observatorywill be the cosmic ray detector with the largest aperture(2×7000&hthinsp;km2&hthinsp;sr).The design of this observatory and, in the future, the data analysis depend, at least partially, on simulations of the response of the detector to an extended air shower. In the following, we present briefly thePierre Auger Observatoryand discuss simulations of the surface detector. As a concrete example we discuss the simulation of calibration and monitoring methods. ©1999 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
Different ansa¨tze for the breaking of the flavor permutational symmetry according toSL(3)⊗SR(3)⊃SL(2)⊗SR(2)give different Hermitian mass matrices which differ in the symmetry breaking pattern. In this work we obtain a clear and precise indication on the preferred symmetry breaking pattern. The preferred pattern allows us to compute theCKMmixing matrix, the Jarlskog invariantJ, and the three inner angles of the unitarity triangle in terms of four quark mass ratios and theCPviolating phase &Fgr;. Excellent agreement with the experimentally determined absolute values of the entries in theCKMmatrix is obtained for&Fgr;=90°.The corresponding computed values of the Jarlskog invariant and the inner angles areJ=3.00×10−5,&agr;=84°,&bgr;=24°and&ggr;=72°in very good agreement with current data onCPviolation in the neutral kaon-antikaon system and oscillations in theBs°−B¯s°system. ©1999 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
General Relativity in terms of Ashtekar variables describe complex gravity. To identify the real sector of the theory, reality conditions are implemented as second class constraints, leading to two real configurational degrees of freedom per space point. Nevertheless, this realization makes non-polynomial some of the constraints. For the sake of preserving the simplicity of the constraints, an alternative method preventing the use of Dirac brackets, is discussed. It consists of converting all second class constraints into first class by adding extra variables. ©1999 American Institute of Physics.
