摘要:
We review several approaches to explain the extended structure of hadrons and their charge content in a relativistic way. The first model is purely geometric and proposes to describe the hadron as a string moving in space‐time. Unfortunately, the introduction of a geometry gives rise to quantum fluctuations which spoil the relativistic invariance of the theory (except in an unphysical number of dimensions). Yet it give rise to a very nice picture of strong interactions in terms of the splitting of strings. Further, this model can only accommodate Abelian charges. The second approach is a hybrid one which associates local fields with the quark quantum numbers, but traps them relativistically in a region of space, called the bag. This bag model has very nice static solutions which roughly give the experimentally observed values for the static parameters of the hadrons. It remains to be seen if the model can accommodate its quantum fluctuations. Finally, the last approach is purely field theoretical and relies on the peculiarities of the quark binding potential. There the quarks end up on a shell.

摘要:
A transport equation approach to particle production in high energy collisions is developed in particular field theory models. The covariant analogue of the Boltzmann distribution function (the Fourier transform of a suitable correlation function) is shown to obey a transport equation, or more precisely a set of such equations. The crucial approximation involved in the derivation is similar to the random phase approximation or Hartree approximations traditionally used in many‐body theory. Non‐covariant examples (employing the Wigner distribution function) are worked out to illuminate the physical content of the approach.

摘要:
We review Landau's hydrodynamic description of multiparticle processes and show how to calculate single particle inclusive distribution functions in terms of the collective variables of such a description. In the scaling regime, we solve analytically the hydrodynamic equations for simple initial conditions expected to be appropriate in pp collisions and in e+e−annihilation into hadrons. We then discuss how these scaling solutions relate to more exact numerical calculations of EdN/d3p obtained for comparison with present accelerator data.

摘要:
A review is presented of three models of diffraction scattering based on self‐consistent solutions to the s‐channel unitarity relation. The major theoretical and experimental predictions of the models are tabulated, and compared qualitatively with each other and with existing high energy data.
