摘要:
We study an energy relaxation process after many degrees of freedom are excited in a Hamiltonian system with a large number of degrees of freedom. Bottlenecks of relaxation, where the relaxation of the excited elements is drastically slowed down, are discovered. By defining an internal state for the excited degrees of freedom, it is shown that the drastic slowing down occurs when the internal state is in a critical state. The relaxation dynamics brings the internal state into the critical state, and the critical bottleneck of relaxation is self‐organized. © 2004 American Institute of Physics

A formula that relates the imaginary part of the proper self‐energy and the proper vertex part can be derived from the finite temperature generalized Ward‐Takahashi relation. Using the formula, the effects of the electron‐electron Coulomb interaction on the lifetime of the electron quasi‐particles can be calculated within the well‐established RPA scheme. © 2004 American Institute of Physics

摘要:
The resonant charge‐exchange by ion‐ion collisions in nonideal plasmas are investigated. The interaction potential in nonideal plasmas is given by an pseudopotential model taking into account the plasma screening effect as well as the nonideal collective effect. The screened atomic states in nonideal plasmas are obtained by the variational principle and the perturbational analysis. The semiclassical straight‐line trajectory method is used to describe the behavior of the projectile ion. The maximum position of the resonant charge‐exchange probability, i.e., the position which takes place the resonant change‐exchange process, is found to be receded from the target ion with increasing nonideal effect. © 2004 American Institute of Physics

摘要:
We formulate a method to calculate a turbidity of a polymeric material having a spatial fluctuation of refractive index coming from spherulites of comparable size with the wave length of visible light. We carry out computer simulations of spherulites growth satisfying Avrami equation. Using the obtained spherulites structures, we estimate a turbidity of polyethylene and compare the turbidity with actual measurements of Polyethylene haze. © 2004 American Institute of Physics

摘要:
Localization property in disordered two‐chain system with long‐range correlation is numerically investigated. We apply the chain system with correlated disorder in the interchain hopping for a simple model of the double strand DNA. Numerical result for the Lyapunov exponent (inverse localization length) of the wave function is given. It is found that the correlation effect enhances the localization length. © 2004 American Institute of Physics

摘要:
Molecular dynamics simulations were carried out at 700 K in single alkali and mixed alkali metasilicate glasses to reproduce the dramatic mixed alkali effect occurring in the dilute foreign alkali region. Both small numbers of frozen ions and another kind of alkali appears to immobilize a large number of host ions as previously found in experiment. This large number can now be rationalized as being due to blockage by the less mobile foreign ions of the cooperative ion dynamics that originate from ion‐ion interaction and correlation. © 2004 American Institute of Physics
