摘要:
The resonances in the toroidal beam pipes of the asymmetric storage rings are computed. The change in tunes due to pipe’s curvature is studied. These effects are found to be negligibly small. The issue of free‐space radiation is discussed.

The aim of the is note is to estimate the effects, if any, of trapped ions in the e‐rings of a B‐Factory (in the ISR ring) machine, actually under study.Figures found in this note will probably be obsolete, at the time of its publication, as the machine and beam parameters are still, at the moment, in a ‘‘transitory state’’.However formulae and qualitative reasoning, given here as a reminder, should still be valid (we hope).

摘要:
In order to attain high luminositye+e−colliding beams proposed for new B Factories a consequence is a beam tune shift at the beam‐beam interaction point. Computer simulations have yielded results for unequal beam energies whereby beam blow up occurs for one beam and not for the other. The solution proposed in this paper is to bring the beam‐beam interaction into the ‘‘strong‐strong’’ regime. (AIP)

摘要:
For the KEK B factory, the necessary horizontal separations between beams at the peripheral collision points are given by means of the rigid Gaussian model. For the present design parameters, (1) in the head‐on collision scheme, bunches can be filled in every three buckets and 2 mm separation is enough at the point 1.8 meter distant from the interaction point, (2) all buckets can be filled if the crossing has an angle of 3 mrad (half angle). The limitation comes from a reduction of the luminosity and the excitation of the closed orbit at the arc and (1+2). The combination of (1) and (2) with crossing angle of 2 mrad and 0.6 T separation magnets (all buckets being filled) provides enough luminosity and enough space for the final focus system.

Simulation studies of the influence of long bunches on the beam‐beam effect in particle colliders suggest that, despite the risk from synchro‐betatron resonances, the attainable luminosity may be greater than that obtained for short bunches.

A consistent set of parameters is given for a B‐factory based on collisions of an electron beam from a SRF linac with the positron beam in a storage ring. An optimized lattice, an impedance estimate, a study of beam stability, and a discussion of collisions with large disruption parameters are included.
