摘要:
Thermal orientation fluctuations are calculated for thej=13/2 model. The constant spin constraint is compared to the constant rotational frequency constraint. The principal moments of inertia depend upon the shape orientation angles.

摘要:
The similarities and differences of the cranking model and particles‐rotor model are discussed. By allowing many particles outside a deformed core some of the effects of the polarisation due to the rotational alignment of broken pairs may be obtained. In particular one obtains an effectiveJ(2)moment of inertia after the first backbend which is significantly larger than that of the core and rather independent of particle number. The cranking approximation is capable of reproducing this behaviour though this also requires a treatment of the two‐body nucleon‐nucleon forces which goes beyond the HFB approximation. As well as providing a deformed mean field an important role of the rotor is allow to angular momentum fluctuations of the particles which permit them to take advantage of this field. This is almost certainly analogous to the fluctuation of neutron and proton angular momenta against one another, which allows a deformation to set in for half‐filled shells. The absence of backbending from cranking calculations is discussed and it is shown that in some cases a simple treatment of the recoil term may correct this. The origin Coriolis attenuation is also noted.

摘要:
The treatment of collective variables within the BRST formalism is applied to the problem of the coupling between the particle and the rotational degrees of freedom. The usual Coriolis interaction emerges as the leading order term, but higher order couplings may be systematically obtained as well. Several significative differences with the particle‐rotor model are discussed. The Elliott SU(3) model is used as an example which includes almost all the complications to be expected in more realistic calculations.
