摘要:
The weak decay of thebquark is one of the more hopeful ways of learning about the relations among the three families. Most of the experimental information onBdecay in the next few years will come from the large magnetic detector CLEO at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. Before I give you my estimate of what we will (and will not) learn, let me remind you of what we already know. As Tony Loomis told you yesterday, thebquark decays (it could have been stable). The results are consistent with the standard model. Some specific other models can be ruled out, but at present a wide range of non‐standard models are allowed.

摘要:
The present theoretical and phenomenological outlook for left‐right symmetric theories of weak interaction is discussed. The identification of the U(1) generator of these theories with the B‐L quantum number leads to baryon non‐conserving processes obeying &Dgr;B= 2 selection rules, such asN‐? oscillations. We also summarize the recent theoretical investigations into composite models that lead to SU(2)L×SU(2)R×U(1)B‐Lelectroweak symmetry at low energies in agreement with recent neutral current data. The scale of right‐handed interactions is estimated to be around 106GeV based on composite models as well as from the considerations of cosmological baryon production. We outline the scenario for baryon generation in these models.
