摘要:
Local scale invariance as a fundamental symmetry of Nature is proposed. This necessitates the existence of a new vector boson associated with local scale invariance. The new boson is referred to as the Weylon. The local gauge action is taken to be that of the Standard Model withSU(3)⊗SU(2)⊗U(1)gauge symmetry. For gravitational interactions, two actions are considered, one linear in curvature and the other quadratic in torsion. In both types of theories breaking of the local gauge and scale invariance is achieved through the usual doublet of scalars and leads to massive vector bosons with the remarkable result that all Higgs degrees of freedom are entirely eliminated. In both models, the Weylon acquires a mass of around1019 GeV.©1997 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
A brief overview of some ideas concerning the realization of a quantum group symmetry of anN=2supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in the Coulomb phase, through the identification of the Seiberg-Witten variablesa(u)andaD(u)as solutions to the Picard-Fuchs equation solving the Riemann-Hilbert problem on the moduli space. We also comment on differences and relationships with other approaches, namely the original one, those based on integrable spin chains, and those from string-string duality and the projection of six-dimensional null strings. ©1997 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
A brief review is given of some of the applications of environmentally friendly renormalization to finite temperature field theory. In particular I show the benefits of using more than one renormalization group in the context of a gauge invariant coupling constant in the magnetic sector of QCD. It is shown that at high temperatures the magnetic sector shows confining properties characteristic of a three dimensional theory in accord with recent lattice results. ©1997 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
We discuss the construction of parameter algebras compatible with the underlying graded structure of Special Relativity. The existence of associative and nonassociativeZ2×(Z4&Lgr;×Z4&Lgr;)-graded parameter algebras is thoroughly analyzed. The corresponding enlarged Lie algebraic structures are presented. ©1997 American Institute of Physics.
