摘要:
The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is exploring the feasibility of deploying high temperature superconductivity (HTS) devices and components in space. A variety of devices, primarily passive microwave and millimeter wave component, have been procured and well integrated with a cryogenic refrigerator system and data acquistion system to form the space package, which will be launched late in 1992. This Space Experiment will demonstrate that this technology is sufficiently robust to survive the space environment and has the potential to significantly improve space communications systems. The devices for the initial launch (HTSSE‐I) have been received by NRL and evaluated electrically, thermally and mechanically and will be integrated into the final space package early in 1991. The performance of the devices will be summarized and some potential applications of HTS technology in space system will be outlined.

摘要:
The state of the art and recent progress in the development of superconducting wires and cables are reviewed and discussed. Excellent superconducting properties of the practice superconducting wires are of special interest in the applications such as MRI, NMR spectrometer, parctical accelerator, SMES and so on. The pratical superconducting wire for DC applications have been also developed. In a well controlled condition, the critical current densities of Nb‐Ti wire and bronze‐processed Nb3Sn2wire have achieved over 3.8×105 A/cm2at 5T and 3.15×104A/cm2at 16T, respectively. On the other hand, the Ag‐sheathed oxide superconducting wires such as YBCO and BSCCO are developed actively. The transport critical current densities are reached over 3.5×104A/cm2at 77 K and zero magnetic field for ac‐axis oriented BSCCO wire.

摘要:
The use of highTcsuperconductors, namely YBa2Cu3O7−x, in the design of electrical componentry shows a great potential for energy savings in the transmission and generation of electrical power. Through characterization of the physical and mechanical properties of these materials, their usefulness in engineering practices can be predicted. The strain reqiured to form and propagate cracks has been considered. The role of crystallographic texture in achieving optimum mechanical and electrical properties will also be discussed.

摘要:
High responsivity detection (≳1 KV/W) of 9 GHz microwave radiation by high temperature superconducting films has been observed around 60 K. Measurements were made on YBaCuO film deposited on MgO substrates. The responsivity is related to the strongly nonlinear current‐voltage characteristics of these films and the films behave like an SNS junction. We discuss the characteristics of the observed detection mechanism, its physical origin and potential applications.
