摘要:
Early experiments observing proton emission are reviewed, with an emphasis on the initial discovery. Beta-delayed proton emission (1963), direct proton radioactivity (1970), and beta-delayed two-proton emission (1983) have all been observed, while direct two-proton radioactivity is still being sought. This historical overview concludes in 1990. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

This article describes the experiments that were performed during the first decade of the operation of UNILAC, GSI-Darmstadt, at the recoil separator SHIP and the on-line mass separator. This report will cover four topics: 1) The development of catcher techniques to detect shortlived particle radioactivities. With this setup proton emission from113Csand109Ihas been observed for the first time (1983). Their slow decay rate has been realized and for the first time expressed in terms of a spectroscopic factor. 2) A discussion of various types of recoil separation schemes and experiments using an electrostatic deflector, which yielded improved decay data for113Csand109I.3) The production of proton rich nuclei by fragmentation of relativistic124Xeand112Snions at GSI and the determination of their decay properties. The beta-decay halflives of105Sband77Yas well as of many other nuclei along the path of rp-process nucleosynthesis have been measured. InTz=−1/2nuclei proton decay has to compete with superallowed Fermi-decay, which is also observed for theTz=0odd-odd nuclei between78Yand94Ag.4) A possible solution to the problem how to detect the proton decay of39Sc(Sp=−0.602&hthinsp;MeV,T1/2∼0.3&hthinsp;ps) and to measure its half-life. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
Proton radioactivity studies performed at the Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility (HRIBF) within the last few years are reviewed. The discovery of five new proton radioactivities140Ho,141mHo,145Tm,150mLuand151mLuis presented together with a recent observation of fine structure in proton emission from146gs,mTm.These proton emitters were produced by means of fusion-evaporation reactions and studied with the HRIBF Recoil Mass Separator and detection system based on a Double-sided Silicon Strip Detector. For113Csand151Lu,the studies of level structure were extended beyond the proton-emitting states via the measurements with a clover array CLARION using Recoil Decay Tagging. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
In a recent experiment to study the proton radioactivity of the highly deformed131Eunucleus, two proton lines were detected. The higher energy one was assigned to the ground-state to ground-state decay, while the lower energy, to the ground-state to the2+state decay. This constitutes the first observation of fine structure in proton radioactivity. With these four measured quantities, proton energies, half-life and branching ratio, it is possible to determine the Nilsson configuration of the ground state of the proton emitting nucleus as well as the2+energy and nuclear deformation of the daughter nucleus. These results will be presented and discussed. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
We report the first measurement, at theXTU Tandem+LINACaccelerator of the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro, of the decay of the very neutron deficient nucleus117Lausing a 310 MeV58Nibeam on a64Zntarget; the117Lanucleus was populated via the (p, 4n) evaporation channel. The Recoil Mass Spectrometer (RMS) was used to selectM/q=117/30recoils that were implanted in a(40×40)&hthinsp;mm2Double Sided Silicon Strip Detector (DSSD) detector. The analysis has revealed that117Ladecays to116Bavia proton emission withEp=(783±6)keVandT1/2=(20±5)&hthinsp;ms.From this result deformation parameters of&bgr;2=0.3and&bgr;4=0.1have been deduced for the117Laground state which was assigned toJ&pgr;=3/2+.©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
The systematic study of proton decay has provided considerable insight into the properties of nuclides beyond the proton drip line. In particular, the results have provided masses for odd-Z nuclides and spectroscopic factors that have been useful in charting the shifts of nuclear single-particle orbitals along the proton drip line. Most of the investigations have, however, been focused on properties of odd-Z proton emitters whose daughter nuclides are even-even nuclides. In this paper, the relationship between the structure of odd-odd nuclides and their odd-neutron daughters will be discussed. These effects will be illustrated by specific examples for structure and decay of odd-odd Sb nuclides. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
We studied the proton emission from69145Tm77and observed three new transitions. New transitions at 0.89 and 0.93 MeV have half-lives similar to that of the previously observed transition at 1.19 MeV, while a new transition at 1.02 MeV has a half-life similar to that of the previously observed transition at 1.12 MeV. These new transitions indicate the population of excited neutron single-particle states in68145Er77.©2000 American Institute of Physics.
