摘要:
In this course, we present an introduction to data analysis in Experimental High Energy Physics, and some concepts and useful tools are discussed. To illustrate, we use the data of E‐791, a fixed target experiment recently realized at Fermilab. In particular, we analyze decay modes ofD+meson with three charged particles in the final state. ©1996 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
We discuss some of the signatures associated with extensions of the Standard Model related to the neutrino and electroweak symmetry breaking sectors, with and without supersymmetry. The topics include a basic discussion of the theory of neutrino mass and the corresponding extensions of the Standard Model that incorporate massive neutrinos; an overview of the present observational status of neutrino mass searches, with emphasis on solar neutrinos, as well as the cosmological data on the amplitude of primordial density fluctuations; the implications of neutrino mass in cosmological nucleosynthesis, non‐accelerator, as well as in high energy particle collider experiments. Turning to the electroweak breaking sector, we discuss the physics potential for Higgs boson searches at LEP200, including Majoron extensions of the Standard Model, and the physics of invisibly decaying Higgs bosons. We discuss the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model phenomenology, as well as some of the laboratory signatures that would be associated to models with R parity violation, especially in Z and scalar boson decays. ©1996 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
These lectures are devoted to elementary particle physicists and assume the reader has very little or no knowledge of cosmology and astrophysics. After a brief historical introduction to the development of modern cosmology and astro‐particles in which the Hot Big Bang model is defined, the Robertson‐Walker metric and the dynamics of the Friedmann‐Robertson‐Walker cosmology are discussed in section 2. In section 3 the main observational features of the Universe are reviewed, including a description of our neighborhood, homogeneity and isotropy, the cosmic background radiation, the expansion, the age and the matter content of the Universe. A brief account of the thermal history of the Universe follows in section 4, and relic abundances are discussed in section 5. Section 6 is devoted to primordial nucleosynthesis, section 7 to structure formation in the Universe and section 8 to the possibility of detection of the dark matter in the halo of our galaxy. In the relevant sections recent developments are included, such as several so called ‘‘crisis’’ (the age crisis, the cluster baryon crisis and the nucleosynthesis crisis), and the MACHO events that may constitute the first detection of dark matter in the halo of our galaxy. ©1996 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
This article presents a review of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM), concentrating mainly in the steps needed to derive the lagrangian of the model within the superspace formalism. Some attention is also given to the reduction of parameters that results from incorporating the hypothesis of Grand Unification and low energy Supergravity; the most salient phenomenological consequences are also discussed. ©1996 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
The purpose of this contribution is to review some aspects of the loop space formulation of pure gauge theories having the connection defined over a Lie algebra. The emphasis is focused on the discussion of the Mandelstam identities, which provide the basic constraints upon both the classical and the quantum degrees of freedom of the theory. In the case where the connection is extended to be valued on a super Lie algebra, some new results are presented which can be considered as first steps towards the construction of the Mandelstam identities in this situation, which encompasses such interesting cases as supergravity in 3+1 dimensions together with 2+1 super Chern‐Simons theories, for example. Also, these ideas could be useful in the loop space formulation of fully supersymmetric theories. ©1996 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
A general introduction to quasi‐exactly‐solvable problems of quantum mechanics is presented. Main attention is given to multidimensional quasi‐exactly‐solvable and exactly‐solvable Schroedinger operators. Exact‐solvability of the Calogero and SutherlandN‐body problems ass ociated with an existence of the hidden algebraslNis discussed extensively. ©1996 American Institute of Physics.

摘要:
This article explains some aspects of quantum theory defined on multiply connected manifolds in the context of the path integral formulation and the applications that these ideas find in anyon physics in one and two dimensions. Examples that involve non‐trivial topological aspects, a formal definition of a multiply connected manifold, and path integrals on arbitrary manifolds are all discussed. 摘要:
A wide range of results from the LEP collaborations is reviewed with a particular emphasis on electroweak measurements. Constraints on Standard Model parameters are discussed and results on QCD, heavy quark physics, and taus, are briefly introduced. Searches for the Higgs boson and for new physics are also presented. ©1996 American Institute of Physics.
