摘要:
The concept and the status of the cooler‐synchrotron COSY under study at the Institute for Nuclear Physics of the KFA Ju¨lich are presented. This storage ring with phase space cooling and RF acceleration is designed to accept light ions injected from the existing cyclotron JULIC or protons from the LINAC of the proposed neutron spallation source (SNQ). The lay‐out of COSY was developed in cooperation with the Universities in Nordrhein‐Westfalen and the meets the experimental requirements of variable and high quality beams which are necessary for the future nuclear research program under discussion.

摘要:
On the basis of the achievement of the accelerator studies at present TARN, it is decided to construct the new ring TARN II which will be operated as an accumulator, accelerator, cooler and stretcher. It has the maximum magnetic rigidity of 7 T⋅m corresponding to the proton energy 1.3 GeV and the ring diameter is around 23 m. Light and heavy ions from the SF cyclotron will be injected and accelerated to the working energy where the ring will be operated as a desired mode, for example a cooler ring mode. At the cooler ring operation, the strong cooling devices such as stochastic and electron beam coolings will work together with the internal gas jet target for the precise nuclear experiments. TARN II is currently under the contruction with the schedule of completion in 1986. In this paper general features of the project are presented.

摘要:
The ‘‘Cooler’’, a storage ring with electron cooling, is under construction at the Indiana University Cyclotron Facility (IUCF). Stored beams in the Cooler will be used with internal targets for research in intermediate energy nuclear physics. The improved properties of the cooled beam should make possible an interesting extension of our experimental capabilities within the existing IUCF research program. The present status of the Cooler design and of the construction project is reviewed.

摘要:
Storage rings for intense proton and ion beams are under construction which will work in the low and intermediate energy range, for experiments with internal targets. These machines will have a very good vacuum and will be equipped with efficient cooling devices which will give small beam dimensions and a small momentum spread. Under these conditions intrabeam scattering becomes a dominant effect. Calculations were made to estimate the resulting beam dimensions and momentum spread for different ions and energies.

摘要:
Some aspects of the interaction of a stored, cooled beam with internal targets are discussed. Recent results of a computer simulation are given. In particular, the effect of the dependence of the velocity of cooling electrons on the distance from the center of the electron beam is investigated, limits in the use of fiber targets are listed, and the effect of the residual gas in the storage ring is studied.

摘要:
The target developments for the CELSIUS storage ring project at Uppsala is concentrated to a gas‐jet target, primarily for cluster beams of hydrogen and deuterium, and different fiber targets of refractory materials. Following a general discussion of internal targets possible in storage ring experiments, details of the gas‐jet and fiber targets, under development at Studsvik, will be presented.

摘要:
The character of the two‐nucleon wave function within the range of the interaction potential is manifested in intermediate energy nucleon‐nucleus scattering via off‐shell effects and a resulting non‐locality of the T operator. I present here a study of the off‐shell and non‐local behavior of the free nucleon‐nucleon T matrix for the RSC and Paris potentials in the energy regime between 100 and 350 MeV. We find the following results: (1) The off‐shell amplitudes for the two potentials are strikingly similar, both for the individual partial waves and for the central and spin‐orbit parts of the amplitude, despite large differences in the momentum‐space matrix elements of the potential. (2) The amplitudes are strongly non‐local. (3) Although they are non‐local, they are nearly independent of the angle between the vectorsk‐k’andk+k’, and they vary very slowly with energy in the regime considered. This reduces a function of 4 variables to a function of 2. (4) Elastic scattering calculations using the free non‐local T operator in an approximate way give results comparable to the Love‐Franey Ansatz.
