A large series of venous catheterization is reviewed. The dangers and recommendations are presented. It must be pointed out, however, that any catheterization using a flexible catheter inserted through a needle is potentially dangerous even in the most experienced hands.

The author tested the alleged nephrotoxicity of this anesthetic agent in fifty-eight patients. He found no instances of this and believes untoward effects can be avoided by adequate hydration and mannitol-induced diuresis.

This report is the first of the use of streptozotocin with apparent success in the treatment of carcinoid. This antibiotic having been found effective against insulin-secreting malignancies was given a trial in two instances of carcinoid. Further study is indicated.

摘要:
This new diagnostic tool has been used to good effect in several special fields of diagnoses. This paper reveals its potential in the demonstration of abdominal masses and lesions. The author considers its contribution to the diagnosis of tumors, to the planning of treatment, especially of irradiation, and in following the response to treatment and showing recurrence of disease. He indicates that additional steps are needed to perfect its effectiveness.
