摘要:
An experiment is described in which male mice received, in one group, an X-ray dose of 600 r given at a high dose-rate and, in a second group, a dose of 600 r of cobalt 60 γ rays given at a low dose-rate; spermatogonial specific locus mutation rates were studied. The induced mutation rate was significantly lower in the chronically irradiated group; this confirms the report of Russell, Russell and Kelly (1958).A significant difference in the mutability of thed-locus was found between experiments carried out at Harwell and the acute X-ray experiments reported by Russell and Russell (1959).

摘要:
A case is described in which dissection of the superior mesenteric artery and right hepatic artery occurred during direct translumbar aortography. The patient recovered after an episode of paralytic ileus and abdominal angina.A brief review of the complications of direct translumbar aortography is given. An uncommon anatomical variation of the right hepatic artery is described.

摘要:
The book is dealing with the radiology of obstetrics. It is divided into two parts, a theoretical, dealing with the development of obstetric radiology and the present-day technique, and an atlas illustrating the normal and abnormal female pelvis and foetus.

摘要:
Dr. James Frederick Brailsford, Consulting Radiologist to the United Birmingham Hospitals, died on January 28 at the age of 72.Dr. Brailsford was an eminent and world-famous radiologist. He attained this high eminence in radiology by the hard way. Previous to his medical qualification in 1923 as a graduate of Birmingham University at the age of 30 he studied the basic subjects of medicine at the Birmingham and Smethwick Technical Schools and later with Sir John Robertson the then Medical Officer of Health of Birmingham.

摘要:
In recent years, survival curves have been published showing the effect of X-ray doses on the reproductive integrity of populations of cells. Puck, Morkovin, Marcus and Cieciura (1957) have given curves for various strains of human cells irradiatedin vitro; Hewitt and Wilson (1959a, 1959b, 1960) have described a curve for mouse leukaemia cells irradiatedin vivo. On the evidence of these results, it has been suggested that the survival curve for well-oxygenated populations of human cells may be almost independent of cell type, or of any transformation of the cell to a malignant state (Hewitt and Wilson, 1960).

摘要:
The current practice of many radiologists when carrying out intravenous pyelography in babies is to distend the stomach by means of a carbonated beverage. One great disadvantage of the method is the difficulty with which the degree of distension is controlled.
