摘要:
The sequential tests of MIL-STD 781-B are based upon the accumulated test hours of a number of test units. The number of test units, however, is not specified and may be varied to suit the testing agency. The problem here is to find the optimum number of units to place on test based upon a hypothetical cost model. The cost of testing is considered to be a composite of those costs which depend upon the number of units employed and of those depending upon the duration of the test facility participation. A cost model of these fixed and variable costs is illustrated for Test Plan I of 781-B under five assumed levels of mean time before failure and for four unit cost-to-facility cost relationships. Tables of the composite costs for the nine other test plans of 781-B are available upon request from the author.

摘要:
IN 1969, the Atomic Energy Commission published a set of quality assurance system requirements for nuclear power facilities. These system requirements cover quality, reliability and safety requirements for the operation and construction of plants and for the system sub-contractors and suppliers. At about the same time, industry standards groups developed other quality system documents. Thus, there are at least five quality system requirements for atomic power plants in use at the present time. These are: 1. MIL-Q-9858 A; 2. AEC-10 CFR 50, Appendix B; 3. ASME—Section III, Article NA 4000; 4. ANSI-N-45.2, and 5. AEC-RDT-F2-2T.The purpose of this paper is to review these documents and report their salient similarities and differences. The question of developing a single quality system that will economically satisfy any one or all five of these documents is considered, and a plan for effectively accomplishing this—whether the company has five or five thousand employees—is explained.
