摘要:
A generalized model is developed to explain the accumulation of errors in a hierarchical system. The model differs considerably from the linear models usually assumed in that errors are propagated via a multiplicative/linear equation. The effect of a chain of errors on end item performance is then quantified using producer's and consumer's loss methodology.

Several different process models have been developed and applied to most of the major types of control charts. This paper reviews and analyzes these economic decision models. Some discussion of the practical implementation of economic design procedures for control charts is also given.

摘要:
An Effective Sampling Plan (ESP) which assumes a gamma prior distribution on the lot percent defective is developed. The sample size and acceptance number are selected using estimates of the parameters of the gamma prior distribution. A set of ESP's is generated from an initial plan selected from MIL-STD-105D. Process control procedures are given with decision rules for moving from plan to plan within the set. All plans of the ESP set have the same Bayesian OC curve as the initial plan and provide for reduced sampling with improvement in the process.

Given independent observations fromkPoisson populations it is frequently of interest to make simultaneous confidence interval statements concerning the parameters and linear functions of them. It is suggested that estimation of arbitrary linear combinations, simple differences, and individual parameters each be handled by a different method. A numerical example from process control is used to illustrate the calculations.

Various examples illustrate how to obtain confidence limits on the mean time between failures (MTBF) of an exponential distribution from data obtained from one of the fixed-size or sequential test plans of MIL-STD-781C. For fixed-length tests, the methods by B. Epstein and the modifications of H. L. Harter are briefly discussed. For the sequential tests simple charts for newly developed methods of Bryant and Schmee are given.
