摘要:
Least squares linear regression is one of the most widely used statistical techniques. Almost all textbooks or statistical methods provide the necessary formulas for the fitting process, based on the assumption that there is no error in the independent variable. How these formulas should be modified when both variables are subject to error is dealt with in detail using as an example an interlaboratory study.

摘要:
A procedure is given for obtaining approximate one-sided tolerance limits for the difference or sum of two normal variates. The sample sizes and the parameters of the two normal populations are not assumed to be the same. Monte Carlo results show that, in general, the approximation is quite adequate.

摘要:
Many industrial processes involve the blending of ingredients to form end products. Experimenting with these processes consists of varying the proportions of the individual ingredients (i.e., varying the blends) as well as varying the conditions at which the blends are prepared and processed. The objective of the experimentation is to find those blends and conditions that produce the product of highest quality. Such experiments are known as mixture experiments with process variables. In this paper, designs for mixture experiments with process variables are presented where the emphasis is on using only a fraction of the total number of possible design points and the fitting of reduced models for measuring the effects of the mixture components and process variables. An example is given of an experiment consisting of three mixture components and three process variables to provide the background setting and the motivation for seeking a reduction in the total number of experimental runs.

摘要:
The assignment of inspectors in a finite lot production environment is a common and difficult problem. When published sampling plans are used, the expected number of inspections for all lots combined may exceed the resource of inspectors available. Further, it is unlikely that such plans economically allocate the inspector resource among lots. A heuristic methodology is outlined which generates a set of interrelated single sampling plans that fully utilize the resource while minimizing the cost of passing nonconforming items.

摘要:
The choice of quality level for a production process has economic consequences, the size of which depends on both internal and external conditions. In this paper we derive and study the optimal process level and the optimal expected net income for a production process with regard to both internal and external conditions. As internal conditions we consider production costs and process variability, and as external conditions we consider prices and control plan. In this study the cost and price functions are assumed to be linear, the quality characteristic is normally distributed with known process variability, and all items are inspected.

摘要:
There are many conditions that affect the choice of an acceptance sampling plan. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 69 on Applications of Statistics has formed a working group to prepare a guide to help in choosing the most appropriate plan. In this review we describe the draft guide and discuss how it can be used to assist in selecting the acceptance sampling plan which best fits the needs of the user.

摘要:
Three kinds of rectifying inspection plans are considered for which the average total inspection is to be minimized subject to particular side conditions. Two of these,AOQLandLTPD(also calledLQL)plans are well-known. The third, called outgoing quality plans is a more recent development. With modern computers any of the three types of plans can be found easily using the simple interactive program presented.
