摘要:
AbstractThe electrochemical reduction of indigo in pyridine as solvent has been investigated in connection with the determination of oxygen dissolved in pyridine, using polarography, cyclic voltammetry, controlled electrode potential electrolysis and coulometry. In the absence of protons, the total current of the first and second reduction waves for an unsaturated solution of indigo (LiClO4as background electrolyte) apparently represents a one‐electron transfer. In the presence of an excess of available protons (added as pyridinium nitrate), indigo is reduced in a reversible two‐electron process to indigo white (leucoindigo). The rapid conversion of indigo white to indigo by oxygen in pyridine solution can be used to determine coulometrically the concentration of oxygen in pyridine via measurement of the indigo produced on adding the pyridine‐oxygen sample to a solution of in situ electrolytically generated indigo white. AbstractThe voltammetric behaviour of aqueous nickel ethylenediamine solutions has been studied. Electrocatalytic oxidation waves were obtained which are attributed to the formation of trivalent and possibly also tetravalent nickel ethylenediamine complexes as intermediates. The mechanism of the electrocatalytic process is discussed.

AbstractThe interfacial tension of 2, 4‐dichlorophenol/acidic solution, 23 ergs/cm2, was calculated from Nielsen's equations which combine homogeneous nucleation theory and diffusion controlled growth. 摘要:
AbstractThe reactions between Fe3+ions and acetylacetonedioxime (AADO) have been studied by potentiometric, polarographic and spectrophotometric methods. Two Fe3+ions are reduced in aqueous solution by one AADO molecule to give Fe2+ions and the oxidized form of AADO (NPO = AADO‐2e = 2‐nitrosopent‐2‐en‐4‐one oxime). NPO forms a water soluble, red coloured complex with Fe (III). The synthesis of bis (2‐nitrosopent‐2‐en‐4‐one oximato) Fe (III) complex is described. The elemental analysis of the solid complex is consistent with the composition FeO (NPO)2(OH). The IR, EPR and Mössbauer spectra of the complex are presented and the bonding properties of the coordination environment of Fe (III) is discussed. A mechanism for the oxydoreduction and complexation reactions for the Fe3+‐AADO system is proposed and its kinetic parameters are: kox.red.= 1.72 × 10−1min

AbstractThe preparation of the crystalline octahedral complex tris (triphenylphosphonium) hexachloro‐americate (III) is reported. The absorption spectra of the octahedral hexachloro complexes of curium (III), americium (III) and most of the trivalent lanthanides in a nitrile solvent are also reported. The dissociation of the hexachloro americate complex anion in the nitrile solvent and in propylene carbonate has been examined.
