AbstractProofs of several theorems on some properties of block matrices of linear statistical models based on hierarchical and crossed classifications are given. These properties are useful to deduce the estimator of vector of missing data in the case of any hierarchical classification and cross classification with the interaction of the highest order.

The use of a classification function leads to an easy determination of all possible sources of variation of any mixed classification.
