摘要:
SummaryPhysical effort induces important adaptation of respiratory and circulatory processes. The author reviews the different means of testing them. The increase of pulmonary ventilation may be important and differently related, to the oxygen consumption than during rest. The increase of the oxygen utilization coefficient is a constant fact in normal subjects during moderate effort. The«oxygen debt»induced by exercice is always present, but its importance is variable according to individuals.Alveolar ventilation and perfusion adapt themselves perfectly to effort and under physiological conditions, the deficit of blood saturation in oxygen, remains very slight.Catheterization of the heart allows a precise study of the circulatory conditions in the lungs. Physiological observations are very few, but nevertheless enable us to value the relations between cardiac output and the pressure observed in pulmonary artery. Furthermore, they bring into light adaptability of the pulmonary circulation.

摘要:
Summary1. 180 determinations of antistreptolysin level in serum were performed in 104 patients with various diseases. This research attempted to assess the diagnostic value of the test.2. In most cases of rheumatic fever, the antistreptolysin level is increased; it is usually normal in chronic polyarthritis.3. In the other joints diseases (tuberculous, gonococcal arthritis,…), there is usually no increase in the antistreptolysin level.4. Antistreptolysin level is increased in acute nephritis following streptococcal infection ; it is normal in chronic nephritis.5. It is high after angina and erythema nodosum of streptococcal origin.6. The rise of antistreptolysin above normal may be considered as characteristic of an hemolytic streptococcal infection.

摘要:
SummaryVery high doses of A. C. T. H. and Cortisone can enhance the apparition of thrombosis. The authors observed, an increase in blood platelets and a decreased clotting-time in rheumatic patients treated with small doses of A. C. T. H. Changes in prothrombin level have been inconstant.

摘要:
SummaryX rays showing esophagal retrodeviation in mitral disease are only slighty different whether taken during systole or diastole. On the other hand, the posterior incurvation of the esophagus is markedly increased when the patient is lying on his side. It may appear in this position when it was missing in the standing patient. This technic is indicated whenever the other elements of mitral cardiopathy are insufficient to establish the diagnosis.

摘要:
SummaryEsophagal retrodeviation in mitral disease, cannot be successfully demonstrated in certain cases of mitral disease without considering some special factors which enable us to obtain radiologic pictures under ideal conditions. Pictures must be taken after the end of deglutition and it may be useful to take them during inspiration and expiration. Doing so, it is not only possible to accentuate the retrodeviation of esophagus in mitral disease, but also to got a far more specific radiological picture. It is characterized by an auricular notch on the esophagus, of which the superior and inferior limits can be observed.

摘要:
SummaryThe Ehlers-Danlos syndrom has a typical symptomatology, characterized by a generalized articulary hyperlaxity and an hemorrhagic syndrom (without- evident changes of blood crasis or vasculary deterioration). It is frequently associated with endocrinal disturbances (mainly of pituitary and parathyroid glands) and with bone-dystrophies. These facts can be explained by the same embryologic origin of both connective and bone-tissues, and by the important action of endocrine glands on the latter.Sometimes heredosyphilis and mental backwardness are recorded, hut both are missing in the two cases the author had under observation. The anatomical data were :1) an atrophic epiderm in the cicatricial regions; 2) an important increase in number and size of the elastic fibers of the derm, which constitute elastic formations («elastomes») by mechanical rupture of these fibers; that lesion alone seems to be indispensable.; 3) very slight vascular lesions only found in scar-tissue, seeming to be consecutive to the increased elasticity of skin ; 4) an atrophy of subcutaneous fat.The Ehlers-Danlos disease is likely to be a mesenchymal dystrophy and is related to other dystrophies such as I.Öbstein’s, Morquio’s, Oppenheim’s and Marfan’s diseases.According to genetics, it is mainly a hereditary disease, of dominant type, that is phenotypically determined by the action of multiple genes, the effects of which are cumulative. It is possible that the phenotypic manifestations of these genes are under hormonal control.
