AbstractThe direct integral decomposition of the self‐adjoint operator associated with the differential equation is used to determine the set of parameters for which the equilibrium solution is stable. AbstractAn initial and boundary value problem for a rate type elastic‐visco‐plastic material is considered. An Euler method as well as internal and external approximation techniques are used in order to obtain the numerical solution of the problem. The error is estimated over a finite time interval. AbstractTo be able to describe experimentally observed deviations in the initial yield surface from the von Mises ellipse as well as translation, rotation and distortion of a subsequent yield surface, a function of the second and third invariants of the translated deviator stress tensor was proposed in an earlier paper [1]. This relationship is further considered, and the manner in which various encountered parameters influence the fitting of an experimentally determined yield surface, is discussed. The experimental data employed in illustrations is taken from literature.

摘要:

AbstractSolutions for the equations of motion of an incompressible third grade fluid are obtained by employing transformation methods. First, the hodograph transformation is applied to the equations to interchange the independent and dependent variables. Then a Legendre‐transform function is introduced and all equations are written in terms of this function and the conditions this function should satisfy are determined. Several illustrations of the method are considered and the results with the linear viscous fluid case are compared.
