AbstractUsing the two fundamental laws of Thermodynamics, results are derived for placing restrictions on constitutive equations of rigid shells. This is achieved by dividing the shell into a number of fictitious layers and accommodating an arbitrary temperature field by use of a continuous piecewise linear coldness function across the thickness. Layer entropy densities are introduced in terms of which the entropy inequality is globally valid for each layer.

AbstractThis study concerns a systematic search for variational principles applicable in solving rate boundary‐value problems of nonassociated plasticity. An investigated solid is assumed to be elastic‐plastic, work hardening and/or softening, obeying non‐associated flow rule. Coupling between elastic and plastic deformation has also been included. It is shown by means of the method of adding the adjoint operator that the counterparts of the variational principles of H u ‐ Washizu and Hellinger‐Reissner can be derived. Variational principles corresponding to the principles of a stationary value of potential energy and stationary value of complementary energy are studied. AbstractAuf der Grundlage der Formel von Corrsin für den Transfer skalarer Schwankungen, die äquivalent ist dem‐5/3‐Gesetz des skalaren Spektrum,s wird für den Trägheits‐Konvektionsbereich k ≫k0(k0Wellenzahl der großen Wirbel) ein Ähnlichkeitsgesetz des skalaren Spektrums hergeleitet, das die Modellkonstante Reλenthält und in der Asymptote in das–5/3‐Gesetz von Obuchow‐Corrsin übergeht. AbstractFür eine Suspension starrer, kugelförmiger Teilchen in einem viskosen Fluid wird eine Zweiphasen‐Kontinuumstheorie (Zwei‐Fluid‐Modell) durch Anwenden einer Volumenmittelung hergeleitet. Es wird gezeigt, daß die volumengemittelten Spannungstensoren der kontinuierlichen und der dispersen Phase nicht symmetrisch sind, wenn man die Rotationsträgheit der starren Teilchen und das Wechselwirkungsmoment zwischen den Phasen berücksichtigt.
