AbstractZur numerischen Lösung der ersten und zweiten Randwertaufgabe der Poissonschen Differentialgleichung für Rechteckgebiete wird eine direkte Methode vorgeschlagen. Mit Hilfe des 9‐Punkte‐Verfahrens werden die Differentialgleichungen mit einem Fehler der Größenordnung h6angenähert, wo h die Maschenweite bezeichnet. Die explizite Lösung der so erhaltenen partiellen Differenzengleichungen kann mit der Spektralzerlegung gewisser Hypermatrizen aufgeschrieben werden, da die auftretenden Koeffizientenmatrizen sich als direkte Polynome

AbstractSolutions are presented for a class of asymmetric mixed‐boundary value problems of thermo‐elasticity. Elastic halfspace containing a penny‐shaped crack situated parallel to the free boundary is considered. The mixed boundary conditions are prescribed on the surface of the crack and free boundary. Using an established integral solution form, the problem is reduced to three pairs of simultaneous dual integral equations which are subsequently reduced to a set simultaneousFredholmintegral equations of the second kind. An iterative solution of these equations is obtained. One illustrative example is presented in which quantities of physical interest are

AbstractEin in einer Richtung behinderter Plattenstreifen (ebener Formänderungszustand) aus elastisch‐kompressiblem Werkstoff verkrümmt sich unter dem Einfluß eines stationären Temperaturfeldes. Dabei soll der Plattenstreifen im Ausgangszustand unverkrümmt und spannungslos sein. Für den Fall eindimensionaler Temperaturfelder und unter der Annahme einer Kompressibilität, die nur von der Temperatur abhängt, lassen sich auch unter Berücksichtigung endlicher Verzerrungen für die Wärmespannungen geschlossene Lösungen finden. AbstractMany investigators have reported on thermoelastic problems of a semi‐infinite body whose surface is heated. In these studies the boundary conditions are mostly defined by the use of the surface temperature. On such bodies as dice employed in casting or forging work, however, it seems appropriate that the thermoelastic problems are considered under the heat‐flow condition.In the present paper, when a semi‐infinite body, initially undisturbed, is axi‐symmetrically and partially heated by a step‐functional heat‐flow through the surface, the author analyses the temperature field on the basis of the Fourier's heat conduction equation, supposing that the physical properties are constant. After this the thermal stresses in the body are also analysed by using the equilibrium equations in the absence of inertia terms. AbstractThis paper deals with the formulation of Monte Carlo methods to solve certain classes of boundary value problems associated with partial differential equations of fourth order. The proposed technique is also useful to solve a system of two second order elliptic partial differential equations.
