AbstractThis is a report of results obtained in an investigation of elastic ground waves initiated by a point load (having a Heaviside time variation) acting on the surface of an elastic halfspace. The results consist of1Integral expressions for displacements and associated potentials everywhere in the half‐space for the separate contributions from the P, S, M and Raleigh surface wave systems.2Explicit expressions and curves for the surface displacements for each type of wave. 摘要:
AbstractThe effect of a trailing or longitudinal vortex on shear flow near a wall is investigated on the basis of exact equations. It is found that the vortex tunnels under and across the shear flow, lifting the flow away from the wall by an amount depending on the distance of the vortex from the wall but not on its strength. Some conjectures are made concerning the behavior of pairs and groups of longitudinal vortices.

AbstractEs wird das zweidimensionale, ebene Problem der Spannungsbestimmung in einem aus einzelnen homogenen und isotrop‐elastischen Schichten mit beliebigen Elastizitätskonstanten und beliebigen Höhen bestehenden Körper bei gegebener Randbelastung oder Randverschiebung mit Hilfe der Fourier‐Transformation allgemein gelöst, und zwar sowohl für den Grenzfall vollkommener Haftung als auch den Grenzfall verschwindender Reibung zwischen den Schichten.
