摘要:
Since last year's first full run of standard assessment tasks at Key Stage 1 was reviewed in the September 1991 issue of the journal some improvements have been made in the assessment arrangements for pupils with special educational needs but other problems remain. David Bartlett, assessment coordinator, Birmingham Education Department, who wrote last year's review and Nick Peacey, SENJIT coordinator, report the findings from a questionnaire survey and a series of conferences. They make proposals for changes.

While David Bartlett and Nick Peacey were conducting their survey of the 1992 standard assessment tasks (STATs) for Key Stages 1 and 3, the National Union of Teachers (NUT) carried out its own smaller scale survey of Key Stage 1. John Bangs, principal officer (special needs), Education and Equal Opportunities Department, NUT, compares and contrasts the results of the two surveys.

摘要:
GRIDS stands for ‘Guidelines for Review and Internal Development in Schools’. This is a school‐based review process which has been tried out in 15 local education authorities (LEAs) since the mid 1980s. John Ashley, head of Hayfield School for pupils with moderate learning difficulties, Upton, Merseyside, was introduced to this system of review and development when he was working in Oldham, one of the pilot LEAs for testing the GRIDS
