摘要:
This review article presents a systematic collection of results from the facile and elegant method called the Gewald synthesis, which leads to the synthesis of 2-aminothiophenes. The present review illustrates the details of the Gewald synthesis with reference to its simplicity, superiority and advantages over other existing methods.

摘要:
Thermal or photochemical ring opening transforms benzo[b]thiete too-thiobenzoquinonemethide, a highly reactive 8π electron system. Cycloaddition reactions or linear additions with subsequent cyclizations lead to larger heterocyclic rings. A variety of compounds containing sulfur and possibly further heteroatoms like nitrogen, oxygen or phosphorus in normal, medium and large ring systems can be synthesized on this route.

The present review deals with the reactions of benzyne with all kinds of sulfur compounds, irrespective of their organic or inorganic nature. The references cover all of reactions reported after conclusive evidence for the existence of benzyne as the reactive intermediate had been obtained. Emphasis will be placed on both mechanistic and synthetic points of view.

摘要:
Thiourea, the sulfur analogue of urea, has been known for over a century and a quarter during which time it has found a variety of uses, some within the biological field. Most noted of these have been its employment as a plant growth stimulator to break bud dormancy and increase crop yield (1920–40) and more recently as a therapeutic agent to treat thyroid dysfunction (1940–50). These and other biological applications, together with the biotransformation of thiourea and its effect upon living systems are reviewed. Finally, an insight into its possible molecular mechanisms of interaction is provided.
