摘要:
Azadirachtin shortens the period length of the locomotor activity rhythm in the circadian rhythm ofLeucophaea maderaeand induces splitting of this rhythm in two components in about 40% of the animals. The phase relationship between the two components is 180°. Both shortening of period and splitting are more pronounced in animals possessing longer periods before the injection of azadirachtin.

The effect of Li+, Rb+and tetraethylammoniumchloride (TEA) on the locomotor activity rhythm ofMusca domesticawas studied. Li+as well as TEA lengthen the free run period t. This effect was more pronounced in animals with shorter period lengths. The effect of Rb* depends on the previous period length. In flies which had a short period, Rb+lengthened, and in those with a long period Rb+shortened t. Replacing the Li+solution with water reverted the period lengthening partly. In the case of Rb* and TEA the rhythm became obscured after replacing the solutions with water. The involvement of K+ions and transport ATPases in the expression of circadian rhythms is discussed.

摘要:
Considering the stochastic nature of human circadian rhythms, it is reasonable to consider the use of Box‐Jenkins time series approach, for modeling these rhythms. This approach is based on fitting an auto regressive moving average model to the data and using the model to forecast future values. The general approach is described in detail and is then applied to human rectal temperature circadian rhythms to show its usefulness and versatility in chronobiological modeling.

摘要:
A continuous recording of carbon dioxide emission (VCO2) was used to quantify the respiratory responses of grouped male GFF mice, LD12:12 synchronized and submitted to one hour of acoustic stimulation. It was shown that, both in percentage and amplitude of VCO2variations, the highest and most frequent responses were: (1) during the dark (D) when mice are more active, (2) at the beginning of stimulation vs. at the end. Moreover, ultradian respiratory variations of the groups influence the number of the responses to the acoustical stimuli.

摘要:
A group of 39 males divided into three groups according to age and with no clinical or instrumental signs of cardiovascular disease was studied by continuous 24‐h electrocardiogram recording. All the subjects were under the same sleep‐wakefulness cycle and meals schedule. Single cosinor analysis demonstrated significant circadian rhythms in heart rate for all the subjects. Multiple regression analysis revealed the existence of a significant inverse relationship between age and mesor and amplitude of the rhythm. Analysis of variance and extended Tukey test demonstrated significantly different mesors and amplitudes among the three different groups of ages. We conclude that aging is characterized by a progressive decrease in mesor and amplitude of the circadian rhythm in heart rate.
