摘要:
The statistical analysis of the frequency of occurrence of the visible aurora given by Schove (1962) shows significant periodicities of 120 and 200 years at a significance level higher than 99%. Periodicities of 40–50 years appear also in the difference Aobs‐ Acom(50), where Aobsis the number of aurorae given by Schove for every 10 years and Acom(50) the 50 years‐running mean.

摘要:
Self‐excitation of leaf movements inOxalis regnelliiwas studied under the influence of different constant conditions as darkness or irradiation of red or far‐red. Since in Oxalis two oscillating systems have to be regarded to, attention was focussed upon the development in time of self‐excitation of both systems. Similar to previous findings under dim white light the self‐excitation of the spreading system preceeds the foldings system in time in all cases.

摘要:
Specimens of this day‐active lizard species were shown to possess an endogenous circadian rhythm of activity and rest, which is synchronized both by light‐dark cycles and by regularly fluctuating temperatures. In continuous light at a constant temperature (31°C), the rhythm free‐runs somewhat imprecisely, with a period of about 22.5 h as is to be expected in a diurnal animal, according to the “circadian rule”;. The ecological significance of the mode of rhythm synchronization is discussed.

摘要:
By means of aktograph apparatus, immature specimens ofA. aviculariahave been shown to be crepuscular, with a weak bimodal rhythm of locomotory activity. The peak at the subjective dusk is more pronounced than the one at the subjective dawn. These spiders are “sit wait”; predators and their activity is limited. They are less active, and have a weaker circadian rhythm, than desert‐dwelling tarantulas. This supports the hypothesis that large desert‐inhabiting arthropods are generally both more active and show more marked rhythmichy than tropical forest species.
