摘要:
Immunologic reactions as well as tryptic action are strongly influenced by possibly extra‐terrestrial radiations, when such reactions are performed at a liquid‐solid interface. These radiations, which could be called soft cosmic radiations until more is known about them, affect the long‐range order of the superficial nickel layer of the solid phase upon which the antigen molecules are anchored. On account of a solar radiation, stopped by 3.5 cm of lead, the course of immunologic reactions exhibits an exact 24‐hr periodicity.

摘要:
Rheumatoid factor titer was determined on 655 newly admitted mental patients, of whom 32.4% were found positive. When the overall findings were divided into “winter readings” obtained from October through March, and “summer readings” obtained from April through September, the prevalence of positive titers in negro and non‐negro males was found to be significantly higher in the former than in the latter. No such seasonal variations were observed in the corresponding female cohorts.

摘要:
A total of 171 female subjects completed a self‐report questionnaire dealing with activation (AD‐ACL) during the premenstrual and menstrual phases of their cycles. Significant variation between the two phases was found for all four activation factors: activation was highest premenstrually. Contraceptive use interacted significantly with cycle phase for the General Activation factor. Subjects taking oral contraceptive preparations also had lower scores on the Deactivation‐Sleep factor.

摘要:
In eight long‐term examination series it could be shown that the efficiency of healing processes during summer months is favoured significantly by the increase in the number of bright days in the curing period. Three other series of observations give evidence of the fact that meteoropatholo‐gical disturbances augment with the increase of clouded, dark days in summer and less cloudy, bright days in winter. Variations of the diurnal rhythm imply that from winter to summer the ergo‐tropic phase in the course of human regulation anticipates by 1 to 2 hrs and ends with a delay of about 1 hr in the evening. These phase shifts are superposed by shifts of 3 or 4 hrs with a rhythm of about 35 days.

摘要:
The application of statistical periodic analysis confirms the existence of significant periodic fluctuations in the mortality of mice infected with a rodent malaria(Plasmodium berghei). The mice were obtained from a single commercial breeder and were kept under strict controlled environmental conditions. The duration of the study was five years. The infection was induced by weekly mouse‐to‐mouse passages of infected blood. The cumulative mortality at day 7 after the infection of each weekly passage was used for the study variable.

摘要:
Clock hour independent groups of young female rats received a series of 3 alternate day intra‐articular injections of methylprednisolone acetate. All rats lost body weight, but the change was minimal when the injections were given in the late afternoon (‐30.8 g) vs the night (‐42.4 g, P < .02). The data imply that methylprednisolone acetate, which is designed to be locally active in joint spaces, can be absorbed into the circulation and that the rate of absorption is subject to circadian control.

The alternation of soft and hard faeces excretion of rabbits follows an endogenous rhythm which in a L/D:12/ 12 is entrained with the Zeitgeber. In continuous light the free running period t amounts to 24.75 ± 0.57 hrs.

摘要:
Power spectrum analysis of a 230‐year series of temperature and precipitation at Philadelphia revealed significant but irregular rhythms between and three years. The quasi‐biennial cycle is well pronounced in the winter season. There are possible indications of the presence of the 80‐year solar cycle but in spite of statistical significance, the series is still too short to be certain. Coherence between annual temperature and precipitation is particularly strong at higher than 99% confidence level, for a cycle of 2.3 years.
