摘要:
Long- and medium-grain rice were dried in a commercial multi-stage concurrent-flow dryer. Drying air temperatures varied fran 82°C to 177°C. Over six points of moisture were removed in one dryer pass without affecting the rice head-yield. Energy consumption of the dryers was half that of conventional rice dryers. Simulation played a major role in the design of the mUlti-stage concurrent-flow rice dryers.

摘要:
The objective of this work has been to basically elucidate the drying characteristics of an optically semitransparent material by combined radiative and convective heating. The experiments were conducted for a graphite suspension, a slurry of surplus activated sludge and a wet silica sand. The time-change of the drying rate as well as of the surface temperature of the brimfully wet material layer were measured under the step heating conditions using an infrared lamp bundle and a blast of hot air heated by an electric heater.

摘要:
Five different selective surfaces coated with oxides of nickel, manganese, chromiUm, lead, am iron on galvanized iron substrate by electro-deposition or chemical method were studied for properties such as absorptivity, emissivity, temperature rise of the surface and stagnation air temperature. The properties of the surfaces which may change due to weather conditions were predicted by: subjecting the collector surfaces to accelerated tests. The best among them was found to be black nickel, followed by manganese, chromium, lead, and iron oxides. Black nickel and manganese surfaces were included in the solar drying system and their drying air temperatures recorded. With selective surfaces, a temperature rise between 250to 4sOC was observed depending on the surface (either manganese oxide or nickel oxide)., Hence high mo~sture content food crops can be dried in less than half the time using selective surface

A review is presented o~ the various studies which have been conducted in connection with the de~elopment of a contacting technique (called the Atomized Suspension Technique) in which the feed solution is sprayed into a heated cylindrical chamber and subjected to a series of sequential physical operations, such as evaporation and drying, followed by one or several stages of chemical conversion, while the finely divided droplets and particles are being conveyed down the chamber by the water vapor generated by their own evaporation. The heating medium' consists of a plasma of water vapor ~nd recent experimental results are presented on the applications of this technique to spray drying, peat and biomass gasification and hydrocracking of heavy crudes or petroleum residues.

A continuous vacuum dryer for energy saving has been developed in order to produce dried foods without heat denaturation in the products. This drying method is suitable for heat sensitive I and highly viscous foods and can dry to 1 to 4% in moisture content with good quality at around 40°C in product temperature andin 5 -10 min a drying time.
