摘要:
This paper reviews the recent advances and general trends in drying technologies of industrial interest. Numerous emerging technologies are listed with emphasis on the following five areas: Carver-Greenfield Process for drying of sludges. superheated steam drying, pulse combustion drying, high intensity drying techniques for paper and the novel impinging stream dryers. Potential application areas for the new technologies are identified.

摘要:
In an inclined-vibrated fluidized bed (IVF-bed), solid particles are fluidized easily at a relatively low air velocity. Good mixing of the fluidized particles in the direction of the air flow and the renewal of the bed surface take place as a result of the vibration effect. Accordingly when the bed surface is heated by thermal radiation from the top surface, radiant heat is absorbed more effectively on the surface than on a stagnant bed surface. This characteristic of an IVF-bed indicates the applicability to a solar dryer and other similar dryers.

摘要:
The simultaneous removal of sulfur dioxide and hydrogen chloride from flue gas generated by municipal waste incineration is a process that is now receiving considerable attention. A dry scrubbing process using a spray dryer absorber (SDA) has recently become an attractive alternative to wet scrubbing. In this operation flue gas is introduced at the top of the SDA and flows downward concurrently with the injected lime-water slurry.

摘要:
An intermittent corn drying process of drying-tempering-drying in a laboratory scale thin layer dryer was optimized. A time lag function was developed to describe the influence of the tempering period on the drying rate in the post-tempering drying period. Three dryer control strategies (1) a drying-rate-first strategy, (2) an energy-efficiency-first strategy, and (3) an equal- importance (rate/efficiency) strategy were investigated. Results showed that intermittent drying processes were optimal except when a high drying rate was desired.

摘要:
A diffusional model to study the drying process when volume change is significant is proposed. The effect of the foodstuff shape is taken into account. An empirical relation between moisture content and volume is presented. The resulting differential equations are numerically solved using a moving boundary finite differences technique. A good agreement between numerical results and experimental data is obtained.

摘要:
In this paper the possibilities of secondary heat recovery in the ventilating system of a paper dryer were die-ed. To reduce of secondary heat losses the replacement of air as drying medium by superheated steam was proposed. This proposal let us to replace heat recovery ventilating system with heat recycling system. For the Yankee dryer the energy analyses of these ventilating system were done. Obtained results are showing that this approach provides a reduction of amount of the drying medium as well as secondary heat losses.

摘要:
A mathematical model of a tunnel dryer for sultana grapes is presented and applied for the determination of size and optimal operating conditions of the dryer. The optimum condition is given by the minimization of heat consumption, expressed as the ratio of thermal load to production, with some constraints regarding the production rate of the dryer and the maximum permissible air temperature. The optimization variables are temperature and humidity of the drying air, and product loading thickness on the trays. The optimum condition requires the operation of the dryer on the maximum permissible air humidity, which corresponds to a high degree of recirculation of exhaust air. This can be accomplished using automatic control of fresh air and humid air inlet and exhaust dampers along the length of the dryer, during the entire drying cycle.

摘要:
The thermal dynamics of a top-loading drum dryer is studied with a view of deriving the transfer function for the thermal process involved. The drum which initially operates at a steady state, is subjected to a step change in the steam pressure and the response of the temperature of the outer surface of the drum is recorded. The normalised time domain response of the temperature T is analysed using the least squares method to a non-linear function. The time domain response is also transformed into the frequency domain using Fourier transforms and the transfer function is derived.

摘要:
The drying process of refractory concrete is simulated numerically using a newly-developed one-pint quadrature finite element algorithm. The effect of volumetric heat supply (e.g. simplified microwave heating) is also examined numerically. Time-dependent temperature, pore pressure and moisture profiles are presented at selected locations. Integrated water release curves are also given.

摘要:
Several types of ink are used in web offset printing. However, heatset inks predominate in general commercial work. In these inks, the vehicle consists of resin dissolved in a solvent, and drying takes place mainly by evaporation. In heatset web offset printing, the printed web is passed through dryers, which raise the temperature of the web enough to cause evaporation of the solvent. leaving only the resin to bind the pigment into a film and to the paper.
