摘要:
Gas flow behaviour in co-current spray dryer is investigated numerically using the k-ε model of turbulent flow.The calculated flow fields are compared with previous experimental results. The distributions of the time average velocity and the intensity of turbulence are in good agreement for both values. The main flow region in the dryer is almost coincident each other. The main (axial) flow rate increases remarkably by acompanying the recirculation flow in the axial direction of the dryer. which reaches a maximum value of about 1.7 times the inlet flow rate. The particle trajectories obtained in the calculated gas flow fields are influenced colisiderably by the recirculation flow.

摘要:
The drying mechanism of shaped ceramics is reviewed and some methods for eliminating defects produced by drying are discussed in this report. The types of defects depend upon the shaping method, shape, properties of the raw materials, drying process and other items. Most defects of dried ceramics are produced during the initial or middle drying stage when large shrinkage of the ceramic body occurs. These defects may be successfully eliminated by heating the body from the inside. Self-deformation caused by weight is also a serious defect. The near net shaping of fine ceramics to reduce machining requires uniform body shrinkage and hence, highly controlled drying. Examples of electric current drying, dielectric drying, and dewaxing are also shown in this report.

摘要:
As part of a national project, “Aqua-Renaissance '90,” by the MITI, a pilot-scale evaluation of membrane-enhanced anaerobic fermentation, has progressed for the wastewater from a pulp and paper mill. A novel membrane filtration system was newly proposed with the aim of saving energy. That is, a gas-liquid two-phase cross-flow filtration which was generated with liquid circulation by an air-lift pump effect, was combined in the anaerobic bioreactor. It was confirmed that the membrane filtration not only offered very stable and large permeate flux, but enhanced the processing efficiency by retaining the microorganisms in the bioreactor. Furthermore, the power consumption per unit permeate volume in the membrane system of 1.78 kWh/m3was achieved. which was a very highperformance result from the viewpoint of saving energy, as compared with 3ndash;5 kWh/m3of conventional liquid single-phase cross-flow filtration.

Dewatering mechanism due to electro-osmosis is fairly different from that of mechanical dewataine which has been used conventionally. and electro-osmotic dewatering has Several advantages compared with the mechanical dewatering and it can be remarkably effective for hardly dewaterable sludges such as very fine Particles and gelatinous materials. In electro-osmotically enhanced dewatering, however, it would be a great problem that the achievement of complete water removal within the sludge could not be possible in principle. Because. when a liauid state in the sludge becomes to be not continuous gradually with proceeding of dewatering, the sludge does not lead electricity and and then electro-osmosis is no longer caused.

摘要:
This communication gives an outline of a user-friendly PC wde developed for preliminary design of a fluid bed dryer (FBD) and its essential ancillaies e.g. cyclone, fan etc.. The fluid bed dryer may have internal heat exchangers. Correlations used for design calculations are presented. The program permits estimation of the energy consumption as well as the installed and operating costs.
