摘要:
Pollen diagrams,14C‐datings, and peat stratigraphy are presented from 3 sites in the Forradal sub‐oceanic area in Nord‐Trøndelag, a moorland complex of flat and sloping fens and blanket bogs lying 400–500 m above sea‐level, ca. 40 km E of the Trondheimsfjord. The vegetational and climatic history during the last 8500 years is described, together with a survey of present‐day conditions. The origin of the blanket‐bog areas is shown to agree generally, in both time and mode of genesis, with similar bog types in Scotland and N England. Dates are given for the expansion of both alder and spruce, the latter occurring more than 1000 years later than in SE Norway. The possible role of provenance formation and Roman Iron Age amelioration of the climate is discussed in this connection. The course of the alder pollen curve indicates a drier and probably colder type of climate at ca.

摘要:
Data on the highest level of the Baltic Ice Lake in south‐eastern Sweden have been compiled from various modern investigations and a survey map has been drawn on the basis of the new topographical maps. The level regularly rises from c. 40 m a.s.l. in eastern Skåne to c. 1SS m a.s.l. in northern Östergötland, immediately before the final drainage of the Baltic Ice Lake at the Billingen Hill. The gradients of the oldest synchronous shorelines suggest that the outlet of the Ice Lake was situated all the time in the south, on Öresund, or south of the Danish is

摘要:
Subfossil finds of the beaver in Finland, both stray finds and bones among refuse at cultural sites, are reviewed. The beaver may have arrived in the Preboreal period together with other elements of the taiga fauna; the earliest finds, however, are from the Late Ancylus or Early Litorina phase of the Baltic. The animal's arrival and occurrence in this country since the end of the last glaciation are tentatively discussed.

摘要:
Previous absolute polien diagrams from northern Fennoscandia yielded evidence for a retreat of the pine limit from an earlier extended position to a position near the modern one between about 5000 and 3000 B.P. New absolute pollen data from the sediment core of Domsvatnet, a small tundra lake near the eastern coast of Varanger Peninsula, are used to demonstrate a parallel retreat in the birch limit. Areas outside the modern birch limit were colonized by early Flandrian pioneer birch woods between 9500 and 9000 B.P. and remained as birch woodland through middle Flandrian times until a retreat started around 5000 B.P. leading to the present tundra situation. The Domsvatnet core shows anomalous high pollen deposition rates combined with relatively rapid matrix sedimentation, suggesting that pollen from outside the basin has been washed in with allochthonous material and concentrated in the sediment.

摘要:
In connection with the description of a recent find (from Örsjö) of a mammoth tusk in Scania, Sweden, the stratigraphical conditions for two older Scanian (Arrie, Lockarp) finds are discussed. All these have been found in glaciofluvial deposits formed during different phases of the main Weichselian glaciation. These three Scanian finds together with one find from Bohuslän (Dösebacka) have been radiocarbon‐dated. A revised extraction method is described in detail. The radiocarbon ages obtained range between 36,000 and 13,300 B.P. Other finite mammoth dates from Europe and Siberia are compiled for comparison. The distribution of the finds in North Europe in relation to the chronology of the Weichselian Stage is discussed. Comments are made on the extinction of the ma
