摘要:
The 1979 Uppsala Symposium was arranged as a continuation of the symposium held in Uppsala in 1978 on the deglaciation of Scandinavia earlier than 10,000 B.P. Papers from the latter symposium were published inBoreas, Vol. 8, No. 2 (1979). In the present issue, eleven contributions from the 1979 Symposium are included, among them three general summaries for Norway, Finland, and Sweden. The Symposium and this issue ofBoreasform part of the joint Nordic activity within the IGCP project entitled ‘Quaternary Glaciations in the Northern Hemispher

摘要:
Several distinctive marginal moraines of Preboreal age have been observed in Norway. They are grouped into three major morainal zones that are radiocarbon dated at about 9900±100, 9600±100 and 9300±100 B.P. respectively. The following deglaciation of central Norway was rapid and most likely completed about 8500 B.P. Evidence of glacier fluctuations up to recent time is discussed. The results are based partly on observations by the field parties of the I.G.C.P. project ‘Quaternary Glaciations in the Northern Hemisph

摘要:
Various concepts of the deglaciation of Finland are presented in the form of a historical review. The suggestions of an early (12,000–10,000 B.P) deglaciation of eastern and northern Finland are considered to be erroneous. A map depicting the ice recession as successive ice‐marginal lines is presented. According to radiocarbon dates the Finnish territory was entirely deglaciated slightly after 9000 B

摘要:
A review is given of the past and present research on the deglaciation of Sweden north of the Middle Swedish End Moraines. Problems concerning the differences in the mode of deglaciation above and below the highest coastline and the activity of the ice are discussed. Dating of the deglaciation offers special problems. The clay‐varve method and radiocarbon dating of the beginning of organic sedimentation in particular are discusse

摘要:
Scattered marginal moraines in the Lyngen‐Storfjord area proximally to the Tromsø‐Lyngen moraine were formed by the Scandinavian ice‐sheet during its retreat in the Preboreal. They correspond to ice‐front positions in the main fjords and fjord‐valleys where between three and four major and, in places, some minor ice‐front accumulations occur. These have been correlated using the marine limits related to synchronous shorelines. Dates for the shorelines and moraines have been derived from a shoreline emergence curve based on14C dated shore levels from North Norway. Two major, and probably at least one minor, climatically induced, glacial events are indicated: the Ørnes event c. 9800–9900±150 B.P., the Skibotn event 95–9600±150 B. P., and a younger event c. 9400±250 B. P. The inner fjord‐valleys were probably deglaciated by c. 9100 B. P. Final deglaciation of the innerplateau during late Preboreal or early Boreal was charac

摘要:
Detailed field mapping of different lateral phenomena, striae, texture and till fabric forms the basis of a reconstruction of five deglaciation phases in the east Jotunheimen‐Gudbrandsdalen area, a land scape with moderate relief in the vicinity of the ice divide. During wastage, the inland ice sheet separated into several ice lobes situated in valleys enclosed by large ice‐free uplands. The slope of the ice surface varied with local changes in the ice movement pattern and with the breaking of ice dams, which caused reversal of drainage from ice‐dammed lakes. Non‐climatic, large margianl moraines are thought to have fomed as a result of locally increased steepness of the ice surface. By tracing the deglaciation phases through two different valley systems which converge in the lake Mjøsa area, deglaciation events in the ice divide zone are correlated with marginal deposits at the front of the i

摘要:
In Västerbotten County, Sweden, both Rogen moraine and Blattnick moraine are common in the inner part of the county. Rogen moraines are found primarily in basins and upslope positions, whereas the Blattnick type (first found in the Blattnicksele area in the county) mostly occurs in broader, more plain‐like areas. Moreover, both types show a great variety of individual forms, due to topography, basal conditions and ice tectonics. Most Rogen moraine ridges are characterized by features due to active ice. The Blattnick moraine type is characterized by broader and more drumlinized ridges. They are often proximally higher and laterally‐distally extended, thus merging into streamlined mounds or hills. The material composition of Rogen and Blattnick moraines is similar. The authors have found the following sequence of transitional forms from the Scandinavian mountains in the west towards the east: (1) Rogen moraines, (2) crescent ridges, (3) Blattnick moraines, (4) drum

摘要:
An inventory of bedrock material has been made from different levels in some moraine types situated in the areas around Storvindeln and Storavan. The results show that moraine forms which have a curved morphology transverse to the direction of ice flow, always have a high content of local bedrock material independent of till thickness. In many cases the local bedrock material is represented more in the upper levels of the moraine. Large transverse ridges with less curvature have a highly variable bedrock content. Drumlins may lack local bedrock material over a distance of many kilometres. The variable distribution of local bedrock material in different moraine types has been interpreted as a function of ice pressure, temperature, and movement during deglaciation.
