AbstractThermodynamic and kinetic characteristics of GaAs film decomposition, mechanisms of film formation and growth, main features of the film growth under epitaxy in chemical transport were considered. The stages of epitaxial film growth and the relief smoothing of film surface were discussed applying data of electron microscopy investigations and theoretical considerations. The period of continuous film formation and degrees of the surface covering of the film growth by adsorbed substance were estimated.

AbstractThe point symmetries at the core of a straight screw dislocation have been tabulated for 85 different types of glide systems. A comparison with experimental data on glide systems suggests that high symmetry of the linear defect may be one factor (in addition to others) determining a glide system.

AbstractThe etch figures on some of the naturally occurring faces of crystals of sodium chloride, cuprite, alpha‐quartz, tourmaline and topaz are compared with the atomic arrangements on the etched surfaces. The etch figures are influenced in their shape and orientation relative to the natural faces by a number of factors. One of these factors is the crystal structure. In every example of an etched pit bounded by straight edges, it was found that there exists in the crystal structure a continuous chain of relatively strong inter‐atomic bonds, running parallel to the straight edge. AbstractThe velocity and shape of growth layers on the {100} faces of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP) crystals growing in aqueous solution atpH = 5.0 are compared with those previously reported for growth atpH = 3.8. The results are interpreted in terms of the adsorption of hydrated hydroxonium ions on the crystal surface.

AbstractEs wird eine DTA‐Apparatur beschrieben, mit der die Löslichkeit von Granaten in Hochtemperaturlösungen bestimmt wurde. Dabei ist besonders darauf zu achten, daß die Temperaturmessung in unmittelbarer Nähe des Kristallisationsortes durchgeführt wird. Die Sättigungstemperaturen sind mit einem Fehler von ≦ 10 grd behaftet.Das Lösungsmittel setzte sich aus PbO, PbF2und B2O3zusammen. Es wurden Löslichkeitskurven von Granaten der Zusammensetzung Y3Fe5−xMxO12(M = Ga, Al, In, Cr;x= 0 …︁ 5) und Gd3Ga5O12gemessen.
