AbstractIt is shown in the present work that copper additives influence substantially the growth of Ga crystals from a melt which is expressed in different ways, depending on the impurity concentration. With rising copper concentrations we observed a substantial retarding in the growth rates as compared with deformed pure Ga crystals, and a change of the mechanism of growth.The results can be explained by a rejection of the impurity by the growing crystal which causes retarding of the growth and with the impurity inclusion like CuGa2particles, which gives rise to dislocations, intersecting the growing faces.

AbstractMicrocrystals attached in random orientations to growing host prism faces of cultured quartz grown by the hydrothermal crystallization technique are described. The microcrystals are established to be quartz. Growth layers and pyramids initiated by the attached guest microcrystals of quartz on the growing host prism faces of bulk quartz crystals are illustrated. Also described are striations, parallel, perpendicular and inclined to the c‐axis, and polygonal growth pyramids on the prism surfaces of attached guest microcrystals. Formation of the microcrystals of quartz is linked to the possibilities of creation of quartz micronuclei in the autoclaves which further establishes and solidly supports the explanation put forward by KOTRU. Effect of unoriented attached tiny crystals of quartz and impurities on the progress of growth layers on the host prism faces is dealt with. Role of attached guest microcrystals in the growth and development of the host prism faces in particular and the cultured quartz in general is discussed. AbstractIn einer universell einsetzbaren Züchtungsapparatur wurden die Ursachen für die schlechte Reproduzierbarkeit und Konstanz der Wachstumsbedingungen bei einem seit 1936 bekannten Züchtungsverfahren sowie störendes Hohlwachstum untersucht. Die Charakteristika des Wachstums in Abhängigkeit von verschiedenen Züchtungsmethoden und Verfahrensweisen für Keimbildung und Wachstum werden beschrieben. Die Einführung neuer Zuchtmethoden ermöglicht die Herstellung größerer Kristalle. Das Wachstum der nadelförmigen Kristalle ist diffusionskontrolliert, die Wachstumsform weicht qualitativ nicht von der Gleichgewichtsform ab. AbstractGroßflächige Einkristallfolien aus Cd‐dotiertem AgCl werden zwischen zwei Quarzglas‐platten aus einer vorher eingeschmolzenen polykristallinen Schicht gezüchtet. Der fahrbare Schmelzofen besitzt zwei besonders gestaltete, getrennt regelbare Heizkreise. Damit läßt sich die Krümmung der Erstarrungsfront so einstellen, daß auf Grund von unkontrollierbarer Keimbildung an der Stirnkante der Quarzplatten entstandene Korngrenzen zum Rand der Kristallfolie führen. AbstractThe phase composition of thin rhenium films as depending on deposition conditions has been studied. In films deposited at a pressure of 10−5torr impurity phases with simple cubic and hexagonal lattices were found. In films evaporated at a pressure of 10−8torr only an hep phase equilibrium in bulk samples is formed. It has been concluded that in thin rhenium films no transitions to a fcc phase occurs.In the present work the dependence of thin film phase composition was investigated as a function of film thickness (∼5–500 Å), deposition rate (∼0.1–10 Å/sec) and substrate temperatur (∼ 20–450°C). The films were deposited on NaCl single crystals at a pressure of 10−5torr (oil diffusion pump evacuation) an 10−8torr (“Orbitron”‐type pump evacuation). AbstractDie experimentellen Ergebnisse von KRUMNACKERzu den effektiven Verteilungskoeffizienten und Konzentrationsverteilungen an der Phasengrenze im System Zinn–Zink wurden einer kritischen Überprüfung unterzogen. Darauf aufbauend wurde eine erweiterte Auswertung der Meßergebnisse vorgenommen. Sie bestätigte für ebenes Wachstum die Modellvorstellungen der Burton‐Prim‐Slichter‐Funktion fürkeffund zeigte, daß der Grenzflächenverteilungskoeffizient weder von der Erstarrungsgeschwindigkeit R noch von der ZinkkonzentrationC0abhängt. Dieses Ergebnis steht im Widerspruch zu einer Deutung der Meßergebnisse durch BRICE. Die Ursachen werden diskutiert. — Für zellulares Wachstum wird gezeigt, daß die Abhängigkeit des Segregationsverhaltens von Konzentration und Geschwindigkeit auf zwei Wirkungsmechanismen zurückzuführen ist. Sie bestehen einerseits im Einfluß einer weiterhin existierenden Konzentrationsanreicherung in der Diffusionsgrenzschicht vor der Erstarrungsfläche und andererseits im verstärkten Einbau der angereicherten Verunreinigungen in den Zellgräben. Im vorliegenden Fall großer Diffusionsgrenzschichtdicke ist der Einfluß der Diffusion für die Geschwindigkeit

AbstractLEED intensity spectra of clean Fe(100)‐, Fe(110)‐ and Fe(111)‐surfaces are calculated and compared with experimental curves of various authors. The Layer KKR method succesfully used for fcc‐lattices was applied to bcc‐lattices up to electron energies of 500 eV. AbstractUsing the transmission electron microscopy dissociated dislocations containing stacking faults were observed in Mg single crystals, deformed in (0001)slip system, and in Zn single crystals deformed in {1122}slip system.The overlapping flat stacking faults lying in {1102} planes and dissociated triple nodes in (0001) planes are observed in Mg. In Zn flat stacking faults are found in {1122} planes. The value of stacking fault energy γ has been determined in Mg crystals (γ ⋍ 10 erg/cm2).
