摘要:
The development of radiographic methods in the steel industry has been restricted by the necessary use of photographic film as a sensor. The available real time radiographic devices do not provide sufficient image resolution for the user's requirments. However, X-ray solid-state linear sensors offer new promising possibilities for radiographic image acquisition of moving products.

ARALL shows a good fatigue crack resistance and a high tensile yield strength. Acoustic emission was monitored during tensile tests and loading-holding-unloading cycle tests for two types (notched and unnotched) of ARALL specimens. AE activities showed that the fiber breakage during the tensile tests depended upon the specimen geometry. Results of observations by a scanning electron microscope showed that the delamination also depended upon the specimen geometry. In loading-holding-unloading tests specimens were subjected to ASME standard (Section, V,11). AE activities showed different tendencies from that of the tensile tests. The ratio (Waveform Ratio = Rise time/Duration) of events during the tensile and loading-holding-unloading tests was shown to be a good indicator to distinguish the generated fracture mechanisms, such as delamination, fiber breakage and pull-out obtained from SEM observations.

Using non-contact techniques for generation and detection, the velocity and attenuation of acoustic waves have been measured in samples of isothermally annealed amorphous Fe81, B13.5, Si3.5, C2(Metglas 2605SC). Apart from an abrupt change due to the onset of crystallisation, the velocity increases with anneal temperature, Ta, due to the development of chemical short range order (CSRO). Attenuation is shown to follow the same dependence on Taas the magnetic permeability and is attributed to the magnetoelastic coupling which changes with stress relief. Neither the magnetic properties, being dependent on other factors as well as CSRO, nor the electrical resistivity which is too insensitive, are clear indicators of structural ordering. However, the velocity of ultrasound, being related to the elastic modulus, is a better monitor of the growth in short range order before any crystallisation can be detected with X-ray diffraction.

摘要:
Barkhausen noise (BN) measurements were made on a half section of a pipe as a function of sweep rate. Power spectral analysis and pulse height distribution studies weremade on the BN data. The rms BN voltage was found to increase with increasing sweep rate. The power density of BN spectra was found to increase and BN jumps with large amplitude take place at higher sweep rates. Increasing sweep rate is also found to increase the total number of BN jumps.
