AbstractThe Nordic Workshop on Science Policy Studies (March 21–24 1973 in Skodsborg, Denmark) was sponsored by the Danish Social Science Research Council in cooperation with the Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish Social Science Research Councils, and with the assistance of Unesco.In summing up the discussion of the Workshop, Mr de Hemptinne stressed the need for science policy making and for enhancing science policy studies in the small advanced countries such as the Nordic countries.

AbstractWhat is a multinational corporation?What effect do their investment and research policies have on the economies of the less-developed countries? In discussing these questions Sanjaya Lall draws on experience as an economist with the World Bank and as director of an UNCTAD-sponsored project dealing with foreign investment in less-developed countries. He is at present Research Officer at the Oxford University Institute of Economics and Statistics.

AbstractCurrent patent practice and procedure derives from the comprehensive reforms of the Patents Act, 1949. In view of the substantial changes in the economic and industrial environment, the evolution of the EEC under the Treaty of Rome and more sophisticated attitudes towards monopolies, the time is obviously ripe now for the system to be strengthened and modernized.
