摘要:
Second‐harmonic wave is generated in type‐1 and type‐2 cuts of KH2PO4crystal by using a diverging Nd+3–glass laser beam. Angular full width at half‐maximum of the conversion efficiencies are measured by recording the diverging output on photographic emulsion. Thermo‐optic and electro‐optic tuning sensitivities for the two types of crystal cuts are measured accurately from the recorded diverging output beam. The measured thermo‐optic tuning sensitivities are 0.005 46±4×10−5deg/°C for type‐1 and 0.0143±4×10−4deg/°C for type‐2, and the measured electro‐optic tuning sensitivities are 0.004 37±3×10−5deg/kV cm for type‐1, and zero for type‐2.

摘要:
Electrical conductivity measurements have been made on deuterated ethanediammonium tetrachlorocuprate, [ND3(CH2)2ND3]CuCl4, in the temperature range from 287 to 386 K. The decrease in conductivity gives further indication that the charge carriers in these ionic semiconductors are protons.

摘要:
A comparison is made between several one‐dimensional (1‐D) analytic theories of magnetically insulated gaps and 1‐D particle simulations. The electron sheath current flowing in theE×Bdrift direction is the most model‐sensitive parameter. This parameter is significant in experiments where there is a symmetry discontinuity in the electron flow. It is found that the theory of Bergeron is in the best agreement with the simulations.

By means of an intracavity grating that splits the paths of two different transition lines, a CO2transversely excited atmospheric‐pressure laser was operated at two wavelengths. The scheme provides control of the wavelengths and pulse delays. The two lines belonged to different vibrational bands.

摘要:
Fine‐grained Pb‐Bi films with smooth surfaces have been investigated for application to the counterelectrodes of lead alloy Josephson junctions. We have observed that reduced grain size and a smooth surface can be achieved by forming a 2‐nm‐thick Au seeding layer prior to the deposition of a 400‐nm‐thick Pb‐Bi film. Experimental junctions have been made using Pb‐Bi counterelectrodes with the ultrathin Au layer; and theirI–Vcharcteristics have been evaluated. The quality of the junctions has been observed to be slightly reduced; however, they have exhibited excellent initial yield compared to junctions with the conventional Pb‐Bi counter electrodes.
