摘要:
The applicability of magnetostatic theory to magnetic flux conduction in ferromagnetic wires and ferrite rods is studied. The various causes of deviation of the experimental results from the theory are analyzed. Such an analysis leads to the conclusion that every accord between theory and experimental results can be considered only as a consequence of a combination of the different effects which are not expected in magnetostatic theory.

摘要:
A potential difference has been observed between two points in a metallic sample in the presence of a strain field gradient. The strain‐induced emf is of a transient nature, and we believe that it arises from a time‐dependent density gradient in the charge carrier distribution caused by the application of stress. The local charge density change is due to the unit cell deformation and the consequent change in the number of electrons per unit cell. The potential difference is of such direction and magnitude as to reestablish uniform charge density on the surface of the metal specimen. The results reported here are qualitative and relate to two basic deformations, compression and tension. They are also consistent with shear, bending, and twisting, and these effects will be reported elsewhere.
