摘要:
The effect of magnetic loss in YIG on the propagation characteristics of magnetoelastic Rayleigh waves is determined for the case of propagation on a (100) YIG surface in the direction of a [001]‐oriented tangential bias field. The maximum absorption rate of the surface waves decreases with increase in the magnetic linewidth, but because of the nonresonant nature of the surface waves the leakiness of these waves is a stronger determining factor of the absorption rate.

摘要:
Gamma rays from137Cs have been resolved using room‐temperature HgI2detectors in three different configurations. The methods used were (i) single charge collection in a thick quasihemispherical‐shaped detector (ii) a thin HgI2detector irradiated edge‐on, and (iii) pulse rise‐time discrimination with a thin detector irradiated face‐on.

摘要:
The effects of water vapor pressure on the dielectric constant and dissipation factor of pyrophyllite have been measured in the frequency range 0.05–10 kHz. Both the dielectric constant and dissipation factor increase with increasing vapor pressure and decreasing measuring frequencies. This result has application in electrical measurements made in pyrophyllite‐media high‐pressure devices.

摘要:
The easy axis of magnetization of amorphous Fe40Ni40P14B6has been measured by57Fe Mo¨ssbauer spectroscopy in zero external field. ForT≳240 K, we find the easy axis to lie in the plane of the ribbon and to be predominantly along the long edge. AtT<240 K, the easy axis, on the average, first tilts out of the ribbon plane, changing continuously with temperature, and then tilts back toward the ribbon plane at 100 K. This behavior is attributed to stresses produced thermally.

摘要:
Calculations and measurements on thin Permalloy bubble circuit elements show effects arising from finite material permeability. A new method is used to directly calculate the magnetization profile in a thin isolated I bar, in quantitative comparison with recent measurements and with a previously reported indirect calculation. The scale factor used in the indirect calculation is found to be about 8% high for the limiting case of infinite susceptibility, with poorer agreement for lower values. New measurements are reported for sparse arrays of I bars using a large‐area magneto‐optic probe and are compared with SFS and other calculations.

摘要:
Two peaks of thermally stimulated exoelectron emission (TSEE) from powdered Li2SO4were observed at 250 and 440 °C. Their intensities become maximum around 2×105and 6×107rad, respectively, and decrease in the further irradiations. The decreases are probably due to structural defects of the crystal lattice in the surface layer.

摘要:
Electron irradiations of PbSnTe at 10 °K are found to produce mobility increases inn‐type material, while mobility decreases are observed inp‐type material. This behavior is shown to be directly related to the carrier addition which occurs during irradiation inn‐type samples and the carrier removal which occurs inp‐type samples, and is also shown to be dependent on the carrier degeneracy and heavily compensated state of the samples.
