摘要:
AbstractCalothrix marchica LEMM. var.intermediaRAO has been found to grow abundantly in soil receiving the effluent of a molasses distillery. The effluent at low concentrations (1–10%, v/v) and at neutral pH increased the growth of the organism. The cyanobacterium grew photoheterotrophically as well as chemoheterotrophically in the medium supplemented with sucrose and lower concentration (10%, v/v) of neutralized distillery effluent. The exogenous carbon sources were also utilized probably in certain specific biosynthetic process, for example, in the synthesis of sheath layer around the trichome of the cyanobacterium. 摘要:
AbstractThe synthesis and localization of α‐amylase were studied inBacillus stearothermophilusAN002 at 40, 45, 50 and 55 °C and also during early exponential, late exponential and stationary phases of growth. The extracellular α‐amylase synthesis was highes at 50 °C and at stationary growth phase. Accumulation of intracellular α‐amylase was observed in cells grown at 40 °C and was distributed in all the cell fractions. At 50 and 55 °C the cell did not have α‐amylase in the protoplasm or protoplamic membrane. AbstractTwo strains of bacteria,Bacillus subtilisT 99 andStreptomycessp. G43, antagonistic to phytopathogenic soil fungi, were isolated from natural substrates.In vitrotests indicated activities against differentFusariumspecies including formae speciales ofFusarium oxysporum, Stromatinia gladioli, Botrytis cinerea, Thanatephorus cucumeris, and other fungi. For both of the antagonists, biotechnical procedures were developed yielding culture broth for large‐scale application. After dilution of these media antagonists were tested successfullyin vivoby soil drenching treatments in a greenhouse carnation production facility. AbstractThe ability of four strains ofAspergillus parasiticus(IMI 301 001) and two strains ofAspergillus flavus(IMI 300 998) to produce aflatoxins on Nigerian groundnuts under varying conditions of temperature was studied. AbstractFour known antagonistic microorganisms, namely,Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus ochraceusandPenicillium cyclopiumwere paired against four pathogens of maize, namely,Curvularia pallescens, Drechslera maydis, Fusarium moniliformeandMacrophomina phaseoliand a pathogen of cassava,Colletotrichum gloeosporioidesf. sp.manihotison potato dextrose agar. The main aim was to test the ability of the antagonists to inhibit the growth of the pathogens. WhereasB. cereusandB. subtilisinhibited the growth ofC. pallescens, D. maydis, M. phaseoliandC. gloeosporioidesf. sp.manihotis, they did not inhibit the growth ofF. moniliforme. A. ochraceusandP. cyclopiumwere effective only againstM. phaseoli.Inhibitory activity on the target organisms are thought to be due to some toxic substances produced by the antagonists.
