摘要:
AbstractIn this paper two indices are proposed to assess the thermal discomfort in not‐uniformly heated enclosures in the time‐space domain. The discussion of some meaningful cases reveals that living spaces are subject to significant non‐uniform radiant heat fields, resulting in thermal discomfort. In order to quantify such effects, the concept of ‘uniform equivalent temperature’ is invoked. This allows two indicesi+andi−to be developed for assessing the thermal discomfort in intensity and duration. Such indices have a clear physical meaning and therefore may provide substantial help in detecting causes and/or locations of thermal unpleasantness. On this basis a necessary but not sufficient condition for thermal comfort is stated in the form:i+=i−= 0, to be sought everywhere within the room. AbstractA low‐energy house located in Halifax, Canada was monitored for a year using a computerized data acquisition system. Data on indoor and outdoor temperatures, relative humidities, and power consumption were collected for a whole year. The results of the analysis of the cooling season data from the heat pump system are presented in this paper. The analysis of the data indicated that a large part of the latent cooling done by the heat pump was subsequently converted to sensible cooling as a result of the evaporation of the condensate from the indoor coil. It was found that 25% of the total sensible cooling supplied to the house during the cooling season was as a result of the conversion of latent cooling to sensible cooling. This phenomenon has important implications in design, operation, and modelling of heat pumps and cooling systems with direct expansion coils. The seasonal EER of cooling was 1.95, and the total power consumption was 1194 kWh with a corresponding cost of Can $84. AbstractAnalytical models were proposed to estimate the dimensionless temperature distributions of spherically and cylindrically shaped objects during cooling. In order to test the analytical model, an experimental investigation was carried out to measure temperatures at the centre, half radius and surface positions of the spherical and cylindrical products (pears and eggplants) subjected to hydrocooling. The measured temperature distributions were compared with the computed temperature distributions and very good agreement was observed.

AbstractIn this paper, an experimental study on the heat transfer characteristics of two‐phase flow condensation and boiling of ternary non‐azeotropic refrigerant mixtures, on water/refrigerant horizontal enhanced surface tubing, is presented. The enhanced surface tubing data showed a significant enhancement of the heat transfer compared to an equivalent smooth tube depending on the mixture components and their concentrations. Correlations were proposed to predict the heat transfer characteristics such as average heat transfer coefficients, as well as pressure drops of ternary non‐azeotropic refrigerant mixture flow condensation, and boiling inside enhanced surface tubing. 摘要:
AbstractThe shrinkage rate of liquid CO2droplets in water at 3°C was measured by the use of high‐pressure vessel placed in a constant‐temperature room. The change of the diameter of the droplet was observed at pressures of 28 MPa and 35 MPa using a time‐lapse video camera. Bromocresol green was employed as a pH indicator, and was effective in monitoring the profile of carbonic acid distribution. When a droplet of liquid CO2was injected, CO2hydrate immediately formed and covered the surface of the droplet. The diameter of the liquid CO2droplet reduced gradually at a rate of 5.0 × 10−7m/s. It is predicted, from the viewpoint of ocean CO2sequestration, that a thin film of hydrate will form at the interface of sea water and liquid CO2, and that the hydrate film will greatly control the dissolution of CO2into
