AbstractConsider a singularly perturbed nonlinear system endowed with a control input and suppose a static nonlinear feedback law is designed. We show that the operations ‘compute the reduced order system’ (i.e., let the singular perturbation parameter μ = 0) and ‘close the feedback loop’ commute, i.e. the closed loop reduced‐order system is unambiguously determined. We then show that, if the reduced order system associated with the original system is stabilizable or has uncertainties matched with the input (a condition frequently used in the design of robust controllers), then the closed loop reduced‐order system enjoys the same property. AbstractWe propose a new class of infinitely many bounded output feedback controllers for uncertain dynamic systems with bounded uncertainties. No statistical information about the uncertainties is assumed. A variable structure systems approach is employed in the synthesis of the proposed output feedback controllers. AbstractUniversal stabilizers are presented for two classes of nonlinear systems, linear in their multiple control inputs: (I) a class ofpth order controlled differential inclusions on R″ with full state available for feedback, and (II) a class of nonlinearly perturbed linear systems with restricted state availability. AbstractIn this article an adaptive discontinuous dynamical feedback strategy is presented for asymptotic output stabilization problems defined on nonlinear controlled systems exhibiting linear parametric uncertainty. A dynamical feedback controller, ideally achieving output stabilization via exact linearization, is obtained by means of output differentiation and sliding mode control ideas. The adaptive version of the dynamical variable structure controller is then obtainable via standard, direct, overparametrized adaptive control techniques available for linearizable systems through static state feedback. An illustrative example from the chemical process control area, including simulations, is provided.
