摘要:
Fractures of the central tarsal and/or third tarsal bones involving both limbs of six foals are described. Five of the subjects were born either premature or of twin pregnancies. Fractures occurred in the neonatal period and coincided with disablement. Features of behaviour, posture and gait are described, together with gross radiographic findings, bone ash determination and blood chemistry. Lesions observed on the artitular faces of tarsal bones recovered from adult horses may have originated during the neonatal period.

摘要:
Investigations were carried out in 1975, 1976 and 1977 in 16 dairy herds where leptospiral abortions were suspected and in five other herds where clinical disease was not present. BothLeptospira interrogansserovarspomonaandhardjowere isolated from cattle in herds with leptospirosis, but onlypomonawas recovered from those that had aborted. There was no evidence thathardjocaused clinical disease in dairy cattle in the Waikato district.

摘要:
The prevalence and level of thiabendazole resistance of sheep nematodes in the North Island of New Zealand was investigated by means of anin vitroegg-hatch technique; samples from sheep on 52 properties in six country areas were examined. Resistance ofHaemonchus contortusandTrichostrongylusspp. was identified on the basis of egg hatch in 0.1 ppm thiabendazole. Evidence of resistance was obtained on 11 (21.2%) of the properties. LD 50's and resistance ratios were calculated for the resistant nematode populations found.
